Whether you like it or not, Wood brought in a huge amount, he provided physicality and a proper striker up front that the others could play off. The difference between having him and an out of position ASM or Joelinton as loan striker was huge, and he was key to our run last season.

Wilson is just an injury waiting to happen, so Isak needs support in the form of another striker.

Panic always set's in this last week of the window - clubs who need to get rid of players or those clubs who realize they aren't going to get a fee for them in 6 months time get desperate.

Tielmans for example - if we've offered £15m and they've said £25m previously may now be thinking there's a middle ground to reach. Clubs like Chelsea are over subscribed in terms of first team players, need shot of at least 4 so there may be a loan there.

I'd be surprised if we didn't bring anyone in but I wouldn't buy for the sake of it, got to be better than what we have already.

Only time to worry is if the window closes and we have no reinforcements. As said above teams will start to panic and will drop asking prices.

Confident we'll have 1 or 2 in before the window closes.

Yes, he's certainly played a role and had his moments, but to claim he was the key behind our run last season is total bollox.

Also I don't get the notion about having a proper physicality upfront, Arsenal have Eddie Nketiah and are doing well.

Key in the sense he sorted out a position that was a total mess in the team, not as in he was the complete solution to the problem.

Obviously Bruno, Burn, Joelinton etc were essential to the turnaround too, but Wood played his part. Trippier only played a handful of games before he got injured, so its easy to overestimate his part and underestimate Wood's part.

We don't really desperately need anyone tbh - only at the most 3 league cup games left and just under half the season.

I guess the owners may be tempted to leave it like this to save funds and see what the current squad are capable of, 3rd is still in reach and we can still achieve it. Would like another striker as minimum though.

You have to wonder if howe is capable of doing a Bournemouth and wasting money on dross eventually to the point they ruined all the good work.

Mctomminay and Gordon have the potential be dreadful signings.

I do wonder why newcastle seem to seek out players that don't score goals.

We have a likeable squad of players at the minute, let's not spoil it by signing this bleach haired spotty faced nonce.

They're bound to start getting things wrong, I just thought with the Isak signing and Dan Ashworth we'd minimise those problems.

There was always that question mark over Eddie and his signings - not saying it's true, or that he hasn't changed, but I recall B'mth fans suggesting he would always avoid perceived ego's or something similar? No doubt McTominay is low key, but he's also a really ****ing ploddy player. He makes Longstaff look like Patrick Vieira.

Gordon as well - couple of flashes last season, but this season he's just come across as a whiny, diving, floppy haired ****.

Just heard that we're advanced in chats to take Connor Gallagher on loan with an option end of season. Presumably we've offered him a 25 year contract.

Out of the players Chelsea might be looking to offload, he at least looks like he'd fit in with how we play. Some of the others mentioned are just over-rated, overpaid, wannabes.
