I am going to set up an account gonna call it the originallWANKAman The team needs some ****ing pace I need to pluck out some names.
just another bang average footballer who will play for around 8 teams constantly getting new contract offers becasue he was highly rated once and perhaps score 5 goals a season probably
My leeds supporting friend who comes to watch us every now and again thinks Gelhardt will tear the championship up and be great for us.
I've watched Leeds a few times this season (don't judge me) and often comes on late on when they are chasing games. He's pacey and gets himself in and around the right sort of areas to score, without really looking like he will. Scored loads of goals for Wigan at youth level and I think he might have scored against us a few seasons ago, which made him stick in my memory. Anyway, I would expect Leeds would want him straight in playing at as high a level as possible in the championship. I don't think he'd get the game time here, so someone like Blackburn or Sunderland who are top half, but not scoring many might make more sense.
If he's at Leeds he'll be able to run up and down all day without getting anywhere, so he'll fit in here very well. They do play the ball quickly to the forwards through the middle though, so It might take him a little time to adapt to passing the ball sidewards and backwards for long periods of time, just for a laugh.
Whenever a City player is linked with a move up the pyramid like Oscar now, we always have this tired debate about whether the player is really good enough. Teams wouldn't be interested if they weren't good. To me it just seems really miserable playing down our top players all the time. We've been here with Greaves, Bowen, KLP, it's always the same conversation. As for Gelhardt, I'm no expert on Leeds but I thought he was a highly rated young winger who'd done well in the PL fairly recently, so I'm a bit surprised to see him talked about as an inadequate goalscorer and an underwhelming signing at this level.
It's a bit of an arbitrary debate anyway, given that to prove they're good enough at PL level or not they still have to go to the Premier league to prove it either way, meaning the same result as far as city are concerned - player leaves regardless unless we go up ourselves.
Anybody who has seen Gelhardt play knows he's good, but I don't think he's a suitable replacement for Oscar if he goes.
