If (big if) he's as good as everyone says he is he'd improve us and give us a better chance of an enjoyable end to the season where we're not still looking behind us come April. Which is all I ask in any season (yes I am still scarred by memories of 2020)

I don't see why we shouldn't be aiming for the playoffs. We're closer to the playoffs than we are to the bottom three and we've been on a clear upward trajectory since Rosenior took over. We're hard to beat now and these players coming in could provide the little bit of creativity we've been missing at times. If we can address that then we'll be a very good Championship side.

The league is usually pretty open and this year is no exception. Unless you're a minnow at this level like Rotherham etc you'd be mad not to be going for playoffs.

As soon as there's a sliver of doubt about Ebiowei people saying they aren't bothered by him coming. <laugh>

    Ridiculous.

Or the folk who would prefer the club to earn interest on the money saved by not signing him as if they are checking the balance of their own personal bank account

Not really, I reckon he'll come in but he's a very short term signing for a side that are trying to build. I don't think the squad is there to have a sustained play off push.

The Connolly one makes more sense, he's surplus at Brighton but on a big contract till 2024. But if we wanted to we could definitely loan him for next season.

I'd rather see us use the window as an extra one to build up for a big push next season

Whilst I get looking up is the way the club should be. Right now we should use January to make sure we dont go down. One bad spell and you're back in it and this league is full of clubs "too big" to go down

I don't think going down is an issue. The teams at the bottom now are extremely poor. We've stopped leaking goals, and we're dominating most games. We're improving as a side and not regressing along with getting key players back from injury

Mostly agree. Just think a bad run of injuries or form and we look back down instead of up. Do agree though that LR has got us where we need to be for now

The current team is nowhere near the quality of our last promotion to the PL, nor the previous two come to that. We need another season for LR to improve the standard and personnel before I'd be comfortable facing top flight opposition.

Our squad was way too good to be in the bottom 3/4 and it's still a very very big squad so can absorb injuries okay

Will just take me a long time to mentally get over the McCann relegation season I think.

Cardiff City have paid Nantes the first instalment of the transfer fee for Emiliano Sala. With interest, around £7m.

They now hope the FIFA transfer ban will be lifted, along with the subsequent FA transfer embargo.

Nobody would have said at the time that those City sides were good enough to compete against PL teams. That isn't the point. You only need to be good enough to get promoted from this division and then you can worry about competing in the PL once you're there. The money on offer there changes everything.

    New
    Christie New Greaves New
    Seri New
    New Tufan New
    Oscar/Tetteh

From where we currently stand, to put out a half competitive premier league starting 11 IMO.

All hypothetical obviously, but I would agree we are a long way off. One of the big things going for us though is I think we have a pair of forwards which are capable of leading the line and that can be the biggest falling point and the most difficult position to sort out.

You're kidding right? It was commonly held that that last promotion team should have walked the division and that's not simply hindsight. We had current internationals right the way through the squad and it was frustrating that we had to do it through the playoffs. Just looking at that lineup and EVERY player is superior to this season's team. Even the 2008 team had old heads and leaders in nearly every position plus an England international that couldn't get in the starting eleven.

We aren't good enough squad wise to get promoted either. Look at the squads of West Brom, Norwich, Boro, Watford, we're miles behind

West Brom? They’ve been about rock bottom of the table for half the season, they can’t be that good.
