He's not going to get anywhere near that at 33 in the championship. Its a bit strange to expect he could command that.

As an impact sub when chasing a late goal though could perhaps do a job for somebody.

We don’t need high paid impact subs, would rather have someone young and up and coming with a bit of pace. Not a soon to be journeyman

They signed him on a long term contract after his decent goalscoring season in the PL and took up the option last summer.

He'll obviously have had a relegation clause as Burnley were well run when he signed the new deal, but he'll still be on a packet.

I don't really see the point at all.

Suppose it depends on his wage demands then, whatever they may be and how much Burnley are prepared to 'subsidise' of his next contract - whether loan or payoff.

If Huddersfield are in, I'd not have thought it'd be a particularly expensive signing. Preston don't have bags of cash either but he probably suits their style more.

There's just no point, we've got 2 good strikers in Tetteh and Oscar, Tyler is improving, Connolly plays there as well but I'm assuming we'll see him play wide and Longman and Allahyar are both good there too.

Barnes could also play wide, but I wouldn't want us to be paying through the arse for him and wouldn't think he'd be intended as much more than a squad player.

Plus it's twitter, so could easily be bollocks.

Play wide? He's slower than most the posters on this board:emoticon-0136-giggl

We just don't need a target man centre forward right now.

Well, left of a 3 then. He's obviously not a touchline hugging flying winger, but Tetteh isn't either.

I think he'll do a job for somebody. Whether that's us or not is anyone's guess.

Elliot Anderson supposedly being let out on loan. If Tufan were to go we should be all over him.

Even if Tufan were to go, would we really need another 10? How do you accommodate the returnees? Traore, Salah, Pelkas to all be expected to come back in the 2nd half of the season, and it's not like you can move any of the on as they're all injured right now.

    Cracking young player though.

I would spend Tufan's fee on Fran Navarro from Gil Vicente. He's very mobile but he has that killer instinct.

Celta Vigo seem to be interested.

I've heard he can't hit a Barnes door with a banjo.

Barnes was always a better player than his goal record would suggest, but I really don't think that's the type of player we need right now. It's already a little bit strange that we're signing Connelly when we've got Oscar playing well, Tetteh almost back and Smith supposedly staying. If Connelly offers something different as Rosenior has said then fair enough, but surely we don't then still need another striker on top.

Connolly fits what Liam seems to want on the left better than a Barnes type of player would. And we have Oscar and Benji as 9's already. If Smith is also part of the plan then we probably don't have room for another striker in a squad of 24 unless someone else goes out anyway.

    Totally agree.

Preston, Sheff Wednesday and, of course, Bristol Rovers are sniffing apparently but I'm amazed that there's not more interest.

Liam’s interview with Mike White was very interesting regarding Fleming. Says how he’s very much in his plans but the team is too small atm, so needs the extra height for set plays. When the composition of the side is right, he’ll be in the squad.

He’s at least realised we need a physical presence next to Seri, but given Fleming has gone out on loan now, we might not sign one until summer.
