It's a shame there can't be some sort of independent assessment done. There is a regulator (ORR), but how effective it is, I don't know
Surely an ‘independent’ pay review body which is told by the government how much money might be available before reaching its ‘independent’ decision on how that money could be allocated is the very definition of ‘independent’. In a postmodern, ironic kind of way of course. Why don’t pay review bodies say what they think public servants deserve, or even need, and then let the government be the body to say no and do the negotiation? The current way is a cop out. Oh, that’s why…..
It’s almost as if you are questioning the true Independence of the Independent Pay body ? Surely the government wouldn’t be trying to hoodwink us all……would they ?
