    .

There are a few of us who are exiles for at least some of the time and I was wondering what Sunderland people miss (or don't miss) when they move away - and what those who remain in Sunderland think they would miss most.

Obviously going to games would probably figure for most of us but what else?

I've been splitting my time between Sunderland and Toronto for a while now but it looks like when I go back in a couple of weeks I'm pretty much going to be in Toronto for the forseeable future.

I'm going to miss access to the countryside, savoury sandwiches, a couple (only) of the local pubs and Indian Takeaways. I'll also miss the casual friendliness of Sunderland folks... but I won't miss some of the chavs that seem to have proliferated since I got older :emoticon-0105-wink:

p.s. Mag wums will probably be deleted unless they're funny

Or edited, for our amusement ;)

I've spent summers away, and i miss tea. I'm a massive tea fan.

Just had lunch, Cumberland sausage and streaky bacon stottie, i'd miss anything like that, they try it abroad, but they can't quite get it right.

Beer gardens. Now, if you live in the sun it's routine, and you may not appreciate it, but for us english, particularly northerners, the first chink of light and the magners are outdoors, and the whole place comes alive.

English beer gardens are fantastic, and an underrated and undervalued wonder of our sometimes great country!

I've been in Milton Keynes for the past 3 years, I do miss family and friends even though when I do travel home its not easy to meet everybody, miss going to watch the lads and miss the friendliness of the locals its just not the same down south. I hope to return one day but the wife would like to return to her homeland Slovakia I think she might just get her own way

I miss being by the sea mostly. Love going back to Shields and watching the ferries come down the river from Lawe Top. That and stotties...

Aye - should have included that... love early mornings with a flask of coffee down at Roker watching the sunrise over the pier when the sea is being whipped into a froth. And paddling in the North Sea on a hot day (Lake Ontario doesn't cut it! :emoticon-0101-sadsm)

With me it is me friends and family plain and simple. Don't know why but never found a bunch that stuck like those I made at school and we are all in our 30's now.

So all the other things like pubs and match and stuff are really just "cos I don't get to do it with them as much any more". Feeling quite emotional now sniff
