As I said elsewhere, while we might have 11 or so players who are up to Championship level (on their day) there are probably at least 6 others in the squad who would struggle in Div. 1 or even 2. These are the guys who have to step up when others aren't available. To start, Nelson (despite the unfounded support on here last week, more dropped bollocks than a eunuch training school), Nkounkou, Campbell, Watters, Sawyers and Ojo (who gets more false starts than that Grand National when half the horses ran off before the starter said go). How we get shot of those to replenish the squad and rebuild - again - I don't know unless we give more opportunities to the young guns who are spoken highly of. Morison has been praised for his squad rebuild but there are some duds in there. Last thought, where has Simpson gone? Not even on the bench recently when Nelson has started. Is he injured or thought of as worse than Nelson? If so, add him to the 6. Going to be a harsh second half of the season unless we get better quality in, especially a goal scorer. I would accept a 10 or 12 a season man the way things are going now. The phrase about being unable to hit a cow's arse with a banjo springs to mind.
With you there BfB. To your list you can add Harris, Rhinohmota, Ralls & Whyte. Another way of putting it is whom would possibly get into another championship match day squad? Allsop, Ng, Kipre, Wintle, O’D, Philigene and Robinson possibly? Morison was praised for his 17 new players and whilst 2 can’t be blamed, a lot are not up to it. I have zero confidence that Hudson will be able to do what Morison did last January and get in the sufficient number of players in the crucial areas that need strengthening to get us back up the table and away from the danger zone
From this, I'd assume we can't demand the recall of McGuinness in January for the same reasons West Brom can't recall Kipre. The loans are regarded as "cross border" arrangements where the recall clause (if any) cannot be triggered by either party. "If Carlos Corberan wanted to recall Kipre in January to bolster his own defence he has been denied by the rules that have made this move an international one. As Cardiff play in Wales, Kipre’s move has been classed as one across borders even though the teams play in the same league and as a result, it cannot be cut short by either party."
EDIT.............or was McGuinness's loan not season long and just set up for the half year to January????????? In which case I presume he could return if required - all very interesting. EDIT edit.... Just checked and McGuinness's loan was definitely for the whole season.
Why would City want a League 1 standard defender back? In reality it’s not the defence that’s the problem area, it’s the inability to score which is the paramount concern and needs improving in January.
OK, OK, - don't be so pedantic.... I was only discussing the principle not necessarily the players involved. I think we all know where the problem lies. EDIT - if he's a League 1 standard player, we may need him next season.
New January striker target?................. https://www.footballinsider247.com/...nsea-city-in-race-to-sign-macaulay-langstaff/
Just heard a rumour about us signing a 20 year old midfielder in January. No name yet. From Annis Abraham's site apparently. Make of that what you want.......
Well Etete has bagged a brace tonight (still 15 to go) so he’ll go ahead of Watters in the pecking order
Young subs from the Under 21's playing very well. Only a friendly but not fazed by Prem opponents. Colwiĺl Junior looks very promising and a terrific cross from Wigley for Etete's second. Good to see Etete and Tanner score. Will do wonders for their confidence. Downside - Campbell. Loses the ball at every opportunity.
Perhaps this one? https://www.westhamzone.com/news/west-ham-united-player-lennon-peake-on-trial-at-cardiff-city/
