OK, let's start this off before the WC break. I for one wouldn't be happy with this - I see him as an essential part of the squad though some others on here might disagree............. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/d...y-transfer-agreement-for-cardiff-city-player/
Being a squad game, you can't afford to lessen the squad. Given we sometimes play 3 CBs or NG covers at RB we need that 4th CB in the squad irrespective what people might think of his abilities. At the moment, LB and up front is where we are light. Lets not put pressure on ourselves elsewhere.
I accept others have different view on Nelson, but when he's been called upon this season, he's not put a foot wrong - unlike Simpson.
He had some mares earlier in the season hence being dropped and virtually discarded by Morison. Has been okay since returning. Could e Hudson's coaching input. I would like to see McGuinness back in Januaryy to give more depth at cb.
Bluey, take your point, but over the years at City, we've had more mares than Arkle. Nelson's early season mistakes were obvious, but last season I would argue he was easily our best CB. Morison was all too quick to forget because he'd got Kipre on board and reinvented Ng alongside him. Bringing in Simpson allowed him to farm out the rick-strewn McGuinness to get them out of his system Don't know what's happened to Denham but he seems to be out of the frame for the moment. If Huds needs to go with 5 at the back to cover for Knouknou rampaging upfield, Nelson would be my choice. Obviously not everyone's cup of tea, but I'd put him in there before Simpson. Simpson is far better than him playing out, but Nelson is a far better last ditch defender and has proved it. Blocking with his body on the line saved us no end of times and when we're under pressure, he'll do it again.
I agree. We need to keep Nelson, he's a good defender whose time will come again and won't let us down.
Famous last words. People have short memories. As for McGuinness the Wendies fans love him. What is he, 21? Still learning the game. Of course he will make mistakes but will learn from them. Nelson has a few good games then drops bollocks for a few. His distribution skills are not great either.
There needs a similar type of input this coming January or we’re in big trouble. And output. I wouldn’t be disappointed if I never saw Sawyers, Ralls, Ojo, and Nelson play for the City again. If a Derby scout was watching Nelson tonight then he would be either laughing his head off or thanking his lucky stars he witnessed that terrible performance just before Derby made an offer for him.
Just a thought, but Cody Drameh has only played once for Leeds in the Prem this season.... another loan move for him perhaps?? I'd rather see him tried at left back than us relying on Nkounkou.... Bagan is obviously still injured or very badly out of favour for some reason.
I don't like right footed full backs on the left side but Cody was good for us and would definitely be an upgrade on Nkounkou.
To be fair Alfa has been ok so it’s the left hand side which is the problem. I don’t like NK being subbed and OD going to left back. It’s a waste. It was just so unfortunate Collins got injured as he looked a decent player. ps Bagan was on the bench v Hull so not injured.
Didn't know where else to put this. A pay per game contract to the end of the season maybe? https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport...an-morrison-returns-training-cardiff-25490516
I wouldn't argue against that provided the club are certain about his level of fitness. Gives more options in the back 4 or 5.
Nelson is a total liability, woeful against Hull, get shot of if we can, much rather Morrison back. Nkounkou isn't a defender imo, better suited to midfield.
