You highlighted part of my post and addressed it by saying the same thing I'd said in the next part of my post. :)

I'm not sure whether it's contradictory but I agree with what Klopp said from the pov of those actually involved in the game but will add from my perspective that I agree 100% with you about it never being too late to act.
Sorry if I misrepresented you, it wasn't intentional.
I picked up on a point then just ran with it without referring back.

I'm just putting myself in their position. A life long dream to play in a world cup versus a moral stance that, in reality, won't really achieve anything. Rightly or wrongly (clearly wrongly), it'll all be forgotten about in 6wks time regardless of the actions you may or may not choose to take.

I don't agree with the world cup being Qatar, and I haven't done from the very beginning, but it's too late to do anything now. And Qatar aren't going to change their ways because a few footballers didn't kick a ball, only way ther protest works is if ALL the footballers going to the world cup refuse to play and that's never going to happen.

(Note what I was responding to too)
Your second paragraph is exactly what should have happened imho
Pinnacle of career or not
IF what you are fighting for is a just enough cause

easy for me because I am at the bottom tier in life - it does get difficult but had they been serious about their beliefs things would have been different but that is just an op - and Tbf I can see your viewpoint on it

Looking at some of the squads this world cup is going to be a real mix of very old and very young players.
Very few squads with a core of players in that 'peak age range'

England and France seem to have the best balance in squad ages.

And by old, Brazil have Dani Alves 39, Portugal CRonaldo 37 & Pepe 39, Uruguay Suarez and Cavani 35
and there is alot more.

Also, must be the last chance for the lauded Belgium squad to win something.

Last chance for a lot of Nations; Scotland will take some beating once Doak is in their team :emoticon-0165-muscl:bandit:

And so it begins

Saint Harry is excited.

Southgate called this the pinnacle of world football.

Not one utterance about the location etc a complete and utter cop out after dodging questions at squad announcement.

I dont want to hear one word out of these clowns after the event.

Southgate isn't going to say anything is he? He'll get assassinated

More like the pinnacle of world football shame and hypocrisy.
If they comeback and take the knee they'll be taking the piss.

Thread title is misleading , those of us discussing and slagging off the 'Killing World Cup' obviously do have souls unless of course we shouldn't be posting anything derogatory about it here and should start a new thread.<whistle>

Wouldn't be the first time. China bused the military in to fill out the 2008 Olympic crowds
The Qataris bussed in people in civvies for the 2019 World Athletic Championships which only had a reasonable crowd when the race included Ethiopian or Eritrean distance runners as loads of the workers from those countries would come in when they were competing . Only problem was they all ****ed off the moment the race ended .<laugh>

Technically, the slagging off off of Qatar is 'off topic' here. This thread is for the world cup and the football player, not got the slagging off of Qatar so it is "soulless" <whistle>
