I fully plan on drinking eight pints and singing No Surrender as we scrape past Iran.

As a protest?

Sort of. I find the way it was awarded galling.
It's less the human rights record, and more that there is fairly well documented evidence that slaves built the stadia, and died building them. I find it hard to reconcile that with my entertainment.
The slaves workers, corrupt award of the WC to Qatar, plus the human rights record, all make it rather unpleasant to my mind.
No judgement of those taking a different view as I know one small drop makes no difference etc, but I'll feel more at peace with myself.
I’ll basically be Tommy Robinson for a month apart from not causing child sex abuse trials to collapse.
You will sleep well at night mate. Others not so much I feel
It could be that the World Cup might see a boost for non league football Col. I'm hoping that will happen. Maybe fans will get the idea of getting down to watch the National League or Southern League as an alternative.I completely condemn Qatar's record on human rights etc, but I fail to see what difference me not watching the WC will make.
Sport and politics shouldn't mix anyway, although of course they do.
I'll be watching, although I don't have a great deal of confidence in England doing much.
Southgate has taken them as far as he can imo.

Can’t say my attempts to avoid it will be a protest in any sense, just a desire not to be connected with it on a personal level.Sort of. I find the way it was awarded galling.

Won't affect my sleep if I watch every game.
I simply don't agree that watching a football match in a country where dodgy things have happened is in any way condoning any actions past or present.
**** me, we wouldn't watch a game anywhere in the world!
Fair play to you Col, if that’s how you feel. Just doesn’t sit right with me and like a few others it seems, feel uncomfortable about the whole thing.
Yep, I respect that too.
However, and I think it's incredibly unlikely, but if England miraculously made it to the final, I reckon every single poster on here would watch (semi too).
Not me….I have my principles![]()

I believe we have a " preseason " friendly against Livingston from Scotland planned for the World Cup time.It could be that the World Cup might see a boost for non league football Col.
