Well said Gelders the hospitality industry have been whingeing since covid was invented and take every opportunity to fleece their customers, have you actually seen the cost of bar food these days and £9 for a pudding over here has become the norm.
They all know they have a captive audience for a couple of nights when this abomination is on in their city, and are putting the prices up accordingly, not taking account of those customers who just might need a hotel in Liverpool that same weekend and aren't remotely interested in Eurovision.
Greedy bastards are what they are.
It's not just since covid. I used to be in the exhibition industry and I can go back 20 years to the 2 hotels at the Excel site as an example. We wanted to do an early booking to get our crew in for the build up to the car show - questioned the price '' but thats loads more than your website states'' to be told '' but there's a big exhibition on then '' They knew that everyone staying were the exhibitors and therefore didn't care as it would all be on company accounts. In the bar , getting a round, I was served pints, which were 80% beer and 20% froth. On questioning the bar manager said it was correct whilst he showed me the two finger width method to measure from the top of the glass! He was a big chubby guy and wasn't pleased when I asked if the girl ( who was tiny and skinny ) could do the measurung.. ( I didn't have her do it, stuck it out and got all filled to the top)

Bit of an update - tickets for Burnley now secured for the grandson's first match and he's now wearing his top playing FIFA where his team is Sunderland playing against a club called Newcastle (you may have heard of them! <laugh>) Feeling so proud now, my job is nearly done <cheers>

Watched the grandson play football today and on the way there he told me that he supported Sunderland, when I asked why he told me "I have to!" My task is now complete :emoticon-0103-cool:

Had Sky sports news on yesterday. Is it me, or are the presenters starting to look like the news readers from Batman 89 when the joker tells everyone there's a deadly nerve agent in cosmetic products so the stop using them. So called respected sports news channel and some of the presenters need their hair brushing, unshaven, half arsed dressed, look like they're off out with the lads straight after and pretty much look like they don't care. Just an observation like.

They were going on about Toney scoring for Brentford on Friday night on the radio. Commentator basically said has there ever been a striker bought for such a bargain doing what Toney is doing, instantly looked at the radio and said "Kevin Phillips". That is all.

I was wondering about lorry drivers earlier. We were 60000-100000 short and were supposedly in big trouble. So, have we found a load of lorry drivers ( in which case can the media not report such good news) , or was it just exaggeration by the media and the industry

That was a reply I gave Sunderpitt when prices started to go through the roof and we were told we were a 100,000 drivers short.

No it's not that mate, fuel tanker drivers are
paid way above your ordinary lorry drivers, 2
lads I know drive the tanker lorries and they
reckon there is a queue of drivers waiting for
any lad to leave, wait until fuel reaches
£1.45/1.47 and hey presto there won't be a
driver shortage then. We continually get took
in by the thieving bastards.

On this day . . . .

The Iraqi Special Tribunal started the trial of deposed President of Iraq, Saddam Hussein, and 7 other defendants for crimes against humanity.

Hussein, who was the fifth President of Iraq, was found guilty, and executed by hanging a year later on December 30th, 2006.

It seems like this psychopath, although he was obviously an evil man with similarities to Putin, helped to keep relative peace in the middle east (compared to now) :emoticon-0112-wonde

Were’nt some of his final words “ you don’t understand- you will open the gates to hell “?

Yeah right, how do you explain the fact that Clark Kent wears glasses and Superman doesn't?

All I can think is, when Superman was originally looking for something to put on his face, the first thing that popped into his head was "Gimpmask". Apparently he went into down town small vill determined to get a gimp mask, but as he approached the sex shop, his arse fell out so he swiftly went into Specsavers next door.

Yeah I remember reading that comic as a kid now you mention it.
