Squad rotation, injuries, a different approach to a game Somebody on here looked at all the squads in our division, and ours is the only squad with only two strikers, does that not tell you something?
We are trying something different? Here's a thought, if we had held on second half, would strikers even have been mentioned tonight?
We didn't though and we've gone from a really positive start when we had strikers to 4th bottom of the form table since they both got injured.
If you can win the first half 2-0, you can win the second half. If we only managed to achieve that half time score by superhuman pressing then there'll inevitably be some tired legs later, which our quality bench can alleviate, but that doesn't explain coming out asleep after the break.
Our strikers are crucial in our defending of set pieces not just in the attacking 3rd. No coincidence that we are conceding from set pieces and struggling up front.
So we buy a third and fourth striker then? What if they get injured? I don't see many posts asking for a third striker when we win. It's an easy stick to beat them with.
Feels like after every defeat or draw the recruitment is mentioned. Think it time to give up as I can't be bothered to argue
At least a 3rd, yes. If you've got 4 strikers injured at the same time you're very unlucky. If you've got 2 injured at the same time and don't have a backup that's bad planning, in my opinion.
Why the feck is nobody questioning the manager here!!!!!!! We were fecking 2-0 up at half time!! me and every fecker else knew we’d need to freshen things up, but nothing happened. WTF!!! We are sleepwalking to a relegation battle!!! Bart
Shambles is a bit harsh, I think we are on track still for a good season. The nature of the defeat was hard to take to-day, equally as hard as the Blackburn one tbh. Both Burnley and Blackburn look nailed on top six, and we are not so far behind. I think any criticism should be limited until we see if lessons have been learned and what steps are taken in January. A good window and who knows, this squad could go all the way to eclipse last season , anything is possible imo. OaU.
Not having a 3rd striker is probably the one mistake we made in the transfer window so maybe shambles was the wrong word, instead of signing as many midfielders we should have signed another striker. IF we had signed that extra striker we would be comfortably top 3 in my opinion with some top players to return.
We only had 2 last season, one of which missed quite a few games injured yet we still gained p We scored 2 goals at home, having no strikers on the pitch had nothing to do with us losing today
Not having a third striker is, as you say, LBW, probably the ONE mistake that we made, and we're suffering 'cos of it, but our circumstances have been unusual, which is so unlucky, but we've got some great newbies who most of us are excited about and we could be positive looking at what we've got (and what we've got when injured players return) It's not all 'doom & gloom' like some people want us to believe
We all know what the issue is and have all known for weeks if not months - but it's still raised every time we go behind.
