Why? Shankhill is a hard core loyalist area so no real surprise - Falls Road, one street over, is a completely different matter though...

That's true, but ever since the infamous botched IRA bombing in Shankhill Road , no mural was usually up long enough to take pictures. Times have certainly changed there since the peace talks. Its been a long time since I was in Belfast

This lunchtime I was privileged to see the Royal Proclamation of the Death of Queen Elizabeth and the Ascendancy of Charles III to the County of Buckinghamshire from the step of the old Court house in Aylesbury.

As Col says... we do pageantry very well.

    It was very moving .

I said to my daughter, that I wanted to see it, as it will be the only one I ever see.

She said no,, there will be another one along soon...and she showed me pictures of King Charles hands...and the water retention shown in podgy fingers ...an indicator of chronic heart problems.

Becoming a king this late in life won't do him much favours if she is right.

Anyway it was very moving. I am glad I went

Very interesting note there about the hands.

The Queen, l valued to the highest degree, unfortunately, l struggle to feel anything for Charles.
I would've much preferred ( possibly by most ) that William was appointed. I tend to think it would've been the best fit for todays younger brigade.
William & Kate hold themselves extremely well and are greatly appreciated by most.

I'd be interested to hear what you folk over there think of them.

Maybe not the right time or thread for that discussion, as valid as it is.
Maybe a new thread could be started, if desired, to discuss the future of the Monarchy etc?

    Good point, Col.
    I meant no malice though.

You and Col are both right, Didley. There's definitely a debate to be had on the future of the monarchy, and it probably merits its own thread.

Why not use the Royal Family ****e thread, or the politics thread if it’s a constitutional discussion. Seems bizarre on a football forum to have three separate threads on the royal family running.

Just my opinion, no big deal.

I think we need a thread to discuss what’s bizarre to discuss on a football thread.

Did anyone else see the protester being yanked out of the crowd. There's a time and a place to protest

Yes - saw it live. He was most definitely ‘yanked’.

He has been charged with a Breach of the Peace, apparently<cheers>

Anyone planning to go to Westminster Hall to pay respects? I'm out of the country until Saturday but considering going on Sunday. Worried the queues could be far too long however and I'd get an earful for leaving the other half with the kids...
