If we can sell someone for big money each summer it would help massively with ffp. Whilst frustrating it’s the only way you can consistently improve the squad without parachute payments. Brentford did it excellently for 3/4 years and are reaping the rewards now
Yeah if someone comes in that's a different story, but do we know if any actually came in with a bid this summer or was there just interest?
I've mentioned it before, but that Whitto interview with the QPR fan in the 'to hull and back' preview was an excellent insight into the only sustainable model for being competitive at the business end of the Championship without parachute payments. That's exactly the game we're in - but that's a million times better than where we were under Enob. Yeah. 5-7m Boro. Contract value depended somewhat on the acceptable fee as they had an overall budget for the transfer. Was rebuffed at an early stage, but there was cash on the table, whether officially tendered or not.
Don't think that materialised. Not an offer that made sense to Greaves anyway, which is why he's still here.
So would be interesting to see if something did materialise. I suspect if it did it would be for substantially more than the Boro bid, which is why I was so keen for him to sign the new deal. The demand for left sided CBs from the PL is crazy.
Oh absolutely. We've protected our asset, and he gets a move if it's something he can't refuse. If it was going to happen this window or likely in Jan though, there's not a chance in hell his agent would have let him sign. He was never going this window though, or next. he was always going to sign.
Sounds like the hope is for Simons & Pelkas along with 1 or 2 more Sounds like it's going to be a busy day https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/hull-city-transfer-state-play-7532187
I think you'll have 4-6 new players, not including converting loans to permanents. Realistically, we'll probably lose Greaves and/or Oscar but that could give us a £30m war chest. 4-6 new ones is fine, but there's a chance we could hit 17 signings today in one window. I've said all summer I thought we'd do the major rebuild all in one summer. Once you start, it's very difficult to stop
So windows shutting today just wandering how many of the 661 pages so far have actually discussed transfer news
How's it work with Traore? He would be a free transfer so could we just register him at any point in the future?
It's strange though, I don't see the point in delaying it unless it impacts our squad size. Which I suppose it might, but then if we're going to sign him in January we'd have to get rid of someone then.. Surely we're paying him a wage?
Why would they sell greaves or oscar if they are trying to improve us. I really hope that doesn't happen
Hull City have made a late enquiry about a possible move for Nice winger Lucas Da Cunha, it has been claimed in France. https://insidefutbol.com/2022/09/01/hull-city-make-late-enquiry-for-ligue-1-winger/577115/
My prediction with Traore is that we aren't registering him with us until the very last minute to create more FFP room. I would think he will be paid directly from Acun Medya until we register him. Would make sense all round. Won't be illegal as he isn't registered to play for us yet so no harm done.
