We have Almiron running around like a headless chicken. He will run down the byline and concede a goal kick. This will happen three or four times and they will be our only promising attack. Ryan Fraser on the other side is so small, 5 of his strides equal 2 strides for anyone of normal height.
I lose a bit of my soul watching Longstaff, Wood, Almiron and Fraser play. Quite how Eddie Howe kept us up last year I will never know.
we will counter these tactics by playing our right back at no 9 sp fraser gets a chance to have a head start and for almiron we will take those goal kicks and pass them short so you have a chance to win them off VVD as he yawns and stretches.
an easily too. the crappyness of the bottom half last year was incredible.
we played 20 games against bottom half sides and won 19 last season. the only mad one was Brentford away which was 3-3 after two massive punts across the park aimlessly that our no 2/ no 9 thought he'd not bother jump for.
very similar happened v fulham this season already.
anyone with a bit about them last season were very comfortable in the end.
people ought to recall we only won 1-0 in each game against you last season. I hardly expect it to be any easier now like.....
Newcastle have several availability issues ahead of the trip to Anfield, with boss Eddie Howe conceding ‘we’re slightly stretched’ at his pre-match press conference.
Bruno Guimaraes is a doubt for the fixture with a hamstring complaint. “He’s doing well. I don’t know about this game coming up but hopefully not far after if he doesn’t make this game,” said Howe.
Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson are also carrying hamstring issues, with Howe saying of the former: “He is a worry for us at the moment.”
Emil Krafth is facing an extended spell on the sidelines due to an ACL injury and former Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey is out, though Kieran Trippier is expected to be fine to feature against the Reds.
At the time of Howe’s media briefing on Tuesday morning, Newcastle were still awaiting confirmation that new signing Alexander Isak has received clearance to play.
“I don’t know, still don’t know,” said Howe of the striker’s status. “I hope so, I desperately hope so. It would be great to see him involved for us but we’re in the hands still of other people.
“So, desperately hoping that gets done before the game but there’s no guarantee as I sit here now. I think it [the cut-off point] is 75 minutes before kick-off, so it could go down to the wire, we’ll wait and see.”
Our injury list is just the usual suspects.

I have always put the team up, from the LFC site, whether first or not. Last week against Bournemouth I was otherwise engaged and could not, and we did OK at 9-0. Should I not put the team up tonight in case I jinx it?
