You don't bring in Traore, Seri, Tufan, Woods and Salah if you're happy with your midfield options. I don't think Shota has shown any faith in him whatsoever. He came in and dropped him. Slater took his place and we've then signed some real quality in midfield
Again, you're assuming the club (who see things a lot closer than us) see things the same way as you do.
You don't bring in 5 midfielders and be wanting another if you're happy with your midfield options. I think it's a very fair assumption, especially considering how harshly Honeyman & Smallwood were both dealt with. And they both had better seasons than Doc too
Suspect Salah may be more for the future, but say we lose a winger,. Pelkas goes out wide as he can play either side, we have Traore who's unlikely to be in contention until Jan and Salah for the No 10. Currently both are injured.
Well yes you do it is what they intended to do bring in a lot of players and more to come, they will let few go out of course but he won't be one.
Been brought in as a first choice championship striker as an established player from one of the better leagues in Europe and is a full international. What do you think would be the going rate? Remember Acun explicitly stated we'd be running a top 10 budget this year....
Not sure but I don't think he'd be on north of 50k a week. Sharky was suggesting Oscar was costing us 3-4m a year. Full international is a bit of a cop out for someone with one cap. Or is Elder a full international and therefore worth 25k a week? Anyway, there's an FFP thread for this discussion. My point is there's a lot of guesswork going on and people asserting authority on the back of guesswork.
In that situation, Tufan slots in at 10 and Slater comes in. If Seri gets injured, Alfie comes in and then if Alfie gets injured Woods comes in. We've got plenty of options and that's before we bring in Halil/Halil replacement and potentially another midfielder.
My mistake, I thought you meant each. That makes a lot more sense and is a lot less than 29m! Even throwing everyone else in too I'd still suspect it would be a lot less than 29m, as those three are probably our top earners.
It is guesswork, I agree, but reasonable assumption would be 20-25k with hefty bonuses, which he's filling his boots on at the moment. And if Elder keeps going the way he's starting the season then we'll have to put another hefty contract on the table to keep him.
Wouldn't have thought so, he'll be happy getting the game time and involvement in our squad. Don't think he'd be on more than 8-10k on a new deal.
I think you'll get a shock when the wage bill is published. Do you think it will be more or less than the 19/20 wage bill?
Others will offer more, especially if they can get him on a free. He's probably on about or slightly more than that now.
Don't think I'll be particularly shocked. Of course it's significantly more. Do you think we have more commercial income than 19/20 or less? How about matchday revenue considering the last 10 games of 19/20 were behind closed doors? Move this to FFP thread if you want to continue.
No, I think we had parachute payments then and cashed in the Bowen money. We got relegated on 25m plus. Either you think Acun has increased revenue to the point we have a top 10 income or you dispute his words that we were budgeting top 10. Which is it?
