Lost Allardyce because Iceland beat England , have we lost Neil because we beat Stoke !

In a way. But it feels like we'd have lost him as soon as any manager in this division lost their job. Or at least any manager at a higher paying club.

If it wasn't Stoke this week - it would have been Stoke next week. Or Watford in a couple of months.

I wanted Manning or Barry but upon sleeping on it I think Mowbray is the right next appointment out of those seriously linked at least.

This season needs to be all about stability and the next about pushing for playoffs. Once we are stable here we can try something different to get up. But appointing somebody with no experience now could be a disaster.

My favourite would still be Mark Robins tho. But he signed a new contract in the summer so compensation will be massive (ironic this isn’t it)
I wouldn't want Barry for that reason. It's too much of a risk, being a good coach doesn't always translate into being a good head coach. How do we assess his tactics or his man management or his in game management in appointing him?

Manning though is a happy medium for me. There's enough evidence there to suggest he's got what it takes and will go far.

he was at the AOL ON SAT MORNING with Kyril, what more should we look at. IMHO i think its a done deal.
he aint right for us IMO
I'd much rather Mowbray than McInnes. Mowbray seems a good coach who develops players well. McInnes has had plenty opportunities to join bigger clubs down the years (Us, Rangers and West Brom) but has rejected the bigger moves

Not overwhelmingly popular opinion but At this point in our development as a club I think Mowbray is probably just what we need.
I think a lot of the knee jerk reaction to him is because of his Dour demeanor and his Boro leanings.
His style of play is anything but dour quick tempo pressing game so would fit in immediately. Also loves bringing through young players.
Add to that experience of the chamionship and promotions under his belt. He would probably do more than steady the ship.
According to Blackburn fans he is a bit stuborn and wont change when things go wrong so there are doubts about him taking us to the next level.
But thats not where we are yet. After 4 years in Div 3 I would take stability in the Championship and a good footballing youth full team any day.

Michael Carrick is my guess.
In my opinion it is a shame he isnt involvee in coaching somewhere. The Man Utd experience might have left a sour taste. A player as good as him, and as intelligent, should be helping players somewhere. Whereas Keane would be a walking argument Carrick would be the exact opposite. I am not sure he would be head coach material at this point though. I nominated Ryan Masom yesterday - very similar but with more recent 1st team experience under Conte. Another I doubt the club seeing fitting us right at this moment in time.

Can't you apply for a job at the club, you clearly know your stuff and the board would gain a huge ITK :emoticon-0102-bigsm
<laugh><laugh> I would work for the club for nothing mate, and be honoured to do so. Doubt I would be popular on here though, I probably sound more like Lee Johnson than Alex Neil <laugh> I would be banned by the mods after my first interview...
