We missed him on Saturday when he was playing at his best. That left side of the Utd defence was begging for a decent striker to take advantage. But hey, happy with the performance, accept that we are lacking up front and hoping we can get someone in before close of the transfer window.
The reason why I say I wouldn't be keen on Broja coming back comes down to: 1 - £30m. I think there's as good/better (for us) out there for that money. 2 - I just don't think he and Ralph click. There's ample evidence suggesting that, and on that I think there's a smoke/fire collaboration...which is also why I think that... 3 - ...there is the hint of an attitude issue there. Like a Diet Dele Alli...which is also why I think that... 4 - nobody else has come in seriously for him, despite him now being a PL experienced goalscorer, despite the fact pretty much everyone and anyone wants one of those right now. And also why I think that one of the most desperate clubs for a big, bustling number 9 right now, namely his actual club, Chelsea, aren't really playing or considering him. Of course I may be completely wrong, but I have my doubts as listed above.
No evidence admittedly, but Broja rejoining looks a lot more possible now than it did back in May. Most of the other clubs rumoured to be interested with the bigger bank balances and wage structures have bought in other targets, he is clearly not part of the Chelsea squad and the only rumour going round is that he is a make-weight in Gordon going to Chelsea and proposed player swaps often don’t come to fruition I wouldn’t be shocked if we loan him again
Still think there is a good chance Broja ends up at Everton, if they don't use their Chelsea loan slot on Gallagher. I'd presume one of the two - on a loan basis - gets worked into the Anthony Gordon deal.
The latest report I saw was Broja + Gallagher + 25m going Everton way in return for Gordon. Now, If I was a shareholder of a business that thought that was a good idea I'd be looking to get rid of the CEO.
I like Broja, can’t really see why there’s so much negativity. £30m is a lot, but we know he can score goals for us.
Broja is a good player. If his price drops significantly then absolutely. I think the discussed amounts are too high for his potential and that there’s probably going to be better value for money elsewhere.
I can see the Broja of the first half of his loan coming back for a much more realistic fee. When he was looking to prove himself, he was a nuisance and an unknown quantity… Ralph has eluded to issues from about halfway through his loan, but that may well have been due to Chelsea or his agent or other clubs inflating his ego and turning his head… for any 19 year old to be told you’re the next big thing has got to be a bit scary… RH always said that he wanted to keep his feet on the ground and talked up the team contribution at the time. Ralph seems sure we’re getting someone in up top, but with a matter of days left and the number of available/realistic strikers (that we know about in the mainstream) seeming to be targets for many teams… I could see it happening….
You’d have to imagine that if there is any over inflation of ego issue then it has been tempered by his lack of move. So far this summer there has been indication or proof of the following clubs looking for at least one striker in England alone: Us Arsenal Chelsea Brighton Everton Leeds Man United Newcastle Nottingham Forest Wolves West Ham Not to mention clubs in Italy, Germany and Spain. Now perhaps it as simple as Chelsea proving him out of the market. Or suggesting to him that he will get more game time that he actually will. But he still hasn’t moved with a couple of days left
I suspect as they have with many other players… they’ve promised the world but as they’ve done a Notts Forest and bought almost a new team… there are going to be some players feeling a bit “hard done by”… and a shame as some real young talent will leave the Prem… Ampadu and Chalobah examples of this….
If (and it's a speculative if of course) Broja has a wee ego issue, how do you suppose he'd take being valued at £25m less than Gordon? Dummies galore I should imagine, and quite rightly so. I can't see that happening.
A couple of people have posted about Broja having an over-inflated ego, which I don’t disagree with, but I wonder whether we’ll get more of that with a policy of signing young, promising talent from bigger clubs? I suppose it can happen with any player and any person, so might not make a blind bit of difference, but just wonder whether growing up around better facilities and better players may lead to more arrogance.
*Tries not to get hopes up, tries not to get hopes up*...... ......Failed. What a signing he would be.
