You seem hell bent on blaming Speakman for this when it is obviously not his fault and he is just implementing the sustainability model that KLD told us would be used to run SAFC. I am sure that if Speakman has somehow strayed from his brief KLD will dispense of his services.

KLD speaks about sustainability at every opportunity and Speakman parrots it in most of his interviews. They are getting the message across to us fans by repetition, the aim of the club is to get to a point where they do not spend more than they earn and whether we like it or not that influences what they are prepared to pay employees.

Neil knew the sustainability model he signed up for when he came six months ago and was happy then. He was happy to sign an improved contract 4 weeks ago all within the current model.

I don’t blame Neil one little bit for moving to another club for better money or better terms and conditions, I do blame him for the underhand way that he has went about it

But to blame Speakman alone is naive and unfair, he is also an employee of the club carrying out the owners wishes under the scrutiny of a very professional and experienced board of directors

He makes all the key decisions. He didn't value Neil to a certain amount and Neil did. If speakman did, I am sure KLD would have sorted it. Speakman didn't believe Neil was worth the going rate. Stoke did. Therefore he left. I think that's a poor call from speakman.

Can you confirm that he was happy with recruitment though?

What is the going rate in the Championship, that's the question.

Haway man he was clearly hawking himself out. A man with integrity would have got the window sorted then talked. This is about power

He simply wanted a rolling contract so he could leave as soon as a club nearer his home were interested. Preston to Stoke is half the travelling time of Preston to Sunderland. He could probably get more moneyas well as less compensation would be payable.

He may well make the key decisions but those decisions will be made within the sustainability model and will be subject to scrutiny by his employers.
To use an old cliché, he is in a results driven business and if he doesn't perform he will not be at SAFC very long, the people that KLD has surrounded himself with will see to that.
Neil has accepted a post as manager of Stoke which suggests to me that he is happier not working under a DoF, which is his choice but it isn't Speakmans fault.
