We lost because we couldnt even leave our own half we had no talent in the 2nd half of the pitch.

Sure our defens isint amazing but we need a team that can hold the ball and attack we cant just sit back and park the bus everygame

No, we lost because we conceded 5 and it wasn't like that was a one off, our keeper has made the most saves in the league.

They problems we have defensively come from the full backs and I think it makes perfect sense that we're looking to address that.

Realistically we're also short of another quality CB too

Giving %68 possesion to a team like WBA who doesnt even play for possesion and plays direct is a huge issue.

Against burnley and norwich thats fine because they uselessly pass the ball around thinking they are barcelona. But against WBA it shows that we are weak with the ball

They had 580 passes vs our 250

I'm not disputing it's an issue but when you have Seri, Traore, Tufan, Sinik, Allahyar and Longman all out injured then there's not much we can do. It was pretty much our 2nd choice midfield, whereas, it was our 1st choice back 4 (Fleming for Elder, for me though).

With the stated aim to bring in Pelkas and Dervisoglu as well, it seems like that should be addressed...

If pelkas and dervisoglu come alongside the injuries we will be fine.

hopefully it happens if not we need two top quality players on their level . Not championship rejects

Jones probably won’t be holding his midfield spot for long once the midfield is all available. We could do with another though, Andy Smith would have been alright. Can’t see the 5th choice centre half getting much opportunity short of the injury crisis we would need him to cover for.

Maybe it makes senst to just recall Smith or use Mills in that scenario.

Cant recall loans outside of transfer window anymore can you?

I think an old head like Faye in the Fat **** promotion season, quality 33, 34, 35 who can pass experience on, cost nothing more than the commitment of a one year contract and not expect to play much would probably be a shrewd signing.

Which championship rejects do you refer to? Christie did well enough at swansea last year and forest before that. It was a Premier league club who released him and Swansea wanted to keep him but couldn't. Woods was starting for Birmingham. Figuereido, Seri were both released by Premier league clubs.

We had Oscar, Tetteh and Williams as our front three, and while it could be argued that Williams doesn't offer too much, he's nevertheless capable as a stand in for Allahyar/Longman. As it happened, we had the exact same defence.

Just my observations, but Coyle hasn't started the season well; he's not a bad player but I'm not sure about his ability to command that right back spot over 46 games. If he proves me wrong, so be it, but if he's still first choice come the end of the season, I'll be surprised. In this division you need your full backs to have pace to compete with the wingers they're up against, Coyle just doesn't have that. He's a good footballer and he'll be good cover, but I don't think he's first choice Championship material, captain or not. The one thing Coyle does have is versatility; when he played at Fleetwood, he was converted into a central midfielder by Joey Barton and he did very well there. I see that as a much more suitable role for him, especially given his passing and crossing ability.

You don't lose because you sit back (which is fairly common in games against more talented opponents), you lose because you concede goals. Truth be told, it could have been more than five were it not for Ingram. In fact, in most of the games this season we've not had much possession (though we have played three promotion favourites so far).

Our defence, while able, is still learning and is wafer thin in terms of depth. If there was an injury to Coyle in training tomorrow, who would cover him? With Fleming injured for however long, who brings quality to the left back position if something happens to Elder? We can't ask kids to step out of the academy and into the Championship at the drop of a hat, not if we're serious about finishing higher up the table. We're clearly bringing in players to challenge the others and to add quality, Christie does that for the RB position.

Exactly what I would do. Shame we can't afford him, but Jason Denayer is available on a free.

    There's a few free agents I'd take:

    Havard Nordveit
    John Brooks
    Winston Reid
    Matteo Musacchio
Yoann Barbet (over 200 championship appearances there).

Smith can't be recalled until January, suppose we could use Mills at this point but there's a lot of clubs wanting him loan and the club are keen to get him playing.

Personally I think that Greaves was made vice captain for two reasons, the first being a personal boost prior to the signing of his new contract, the second, and just as importantly, a ready made role for him when Coyle gets replaced in the first eleven.

    Very clever management.

edit - no idea how that finished up as two separate posts when I clearly quoted ST!
