I’m just chuffed for che really. I’ve always rated him, I think he was harshly treated at times last season. He’s definitely one of the first names on the team sheet for me because of his hold up play. (Since sir rickie and pelle I’m an absolute sucker for a target man) Hopefully he can continue banging them in as well now
Yeah if Everton really want him and do Everton type things with the Gordon money and we get a £40m bid then he will go id imagine. Would be a big gamble but feel that Shields/Crocker would have a few targets they have identified that we could get with that money that they would take the gamble
I’d like to think that we wouldn’t accept 20m for Che when Gibbs-white went for 25m rising to 35m realistically and potentially 42.5m and Gordon might be going for 50m rising to 60m with a better player (Gallagher) or a player they really really need (Broja) potentially going on loan in the other direction That said Che has only two years on his contract and may not want to extend / want too much of a pay rise
Saying that Che didn't have a great preseason might not even be performance-related. It may simply be suggesting that his buildup to the season wasn't optimal, which is more likely to be related to carrying a knock than poor form.
That is how i read it. His pre season wasn't good because of other reasons (maybe he had an injury or family issues etc). That is how I read it. Say the quote out loud in Ralph's voice and it sound better.
You can chalk Ramos off the Newcastle wishlist. They've agreed a 70m deal with Real Sociedad for Alexander Isak.
Assuming we are keen because of his versatility, although hasn't he turned clubs (one of which was us) down before as he doesn't see himself as a full back?
If I remember rightly he said he wanted to play CM as his long term position. I really like him a lot. Very underrated. Don’t think we really have a slot for him unless he’s willing to join as a “utility player”.
I don’t know much about AMN but would be underwhelmed if he was the Romeu replacement (I didn’t think he was really a defensive midfielder) On paper I would prefer Garner. Now if the idea is to move on Romeu and Diallo and get them both then fair enough - but i doubt it because that would be circa 30m more on midfielders (depending on the AMN fee) I just think it would leave us short on the more defensive side
What kind of midfielder actually is he in the centre? And for the comment on him not being happy being used as a full back - it clearly wouldn’t be the long term plan but it is churlish to be good enough to be versatile and then not want to make the most of it. But then again there are people who actually think KWP is upset at being played at left back last season - improving his versatility and developing his game
