Think we can expect to see Bennette later today. I don't know anything about him, I've not heard him speak....does he have any English anyone? Strange signing this.
There seems to be an awful lot of hype and coverage about a kid from Central America tha no one has heard of
No idea but the coverage on costa rica tv has been mental so I’m choosing to believe he’s class and will win the ballon dor in the next 3 years
From what I gather,he's been playing in front of about 4 or 5000 crowds. He's going to find the SoL a completely different set up.Young, new country, different language, different climate....he's going to take time to settle. He clearly expects to be in the Costa Rican squad for the World Cup,in which case he'll need games between now and then, but I'll be really surprised if he's anywhere near oven ready. As I say, strange signing.
Apparently he is travelling to Sunderland for a medical before signing a 4 year deal. That’s what we keep hearing every day.
L'Équipe isn't a clickbait operation and have a good reputation. Besides a story about a fringe player and Sunderland isn't likely to clear all the papers off the shelves. KLD is well respected in France and I doubt they'd allow his club to be used as a stalking horse by the agent/club simply to attract other bids. That's my take.
He could be the next Arca, or the next Medina. Time will tell but agree that it’s odd timing if he’s expecting immediate game time
Not necessarily sometimes the clubs don't act very professionally either just look at Spurs with Harry Kane or even Barca now. I am not saying he is not a bit of a troublemaker but there are often 2 sides to these kind of things but the club will try and spin it to make them look good
Fabrizio doesn’t report something unless there’s a lot of credibility in it, so IMO it’s definitely a goer unless there’s an issue in negotiations.
It does seem left field but our recruitment team will have done their homework. On the face of it he looks like he will fit the squad - left sided, can play through the middle too, pace and trickery. So a good extra option on the left possibly, and a bit different to Simms. Worth also factoring in Pritchard rarely lasts 90 mins so Alex always has to prepare for that sub in a game, possibly again a different option. Agree this will be a massive step up, same as the french lad. But if our model is risk/reward the costa rica lad fits the bill. It looks a low outlay, for a very young full international, with a world cup platform, and the protection of a 4 year deal. You couldnt imagine him starting at all, but could he impact from the bench? Players with pace often do. With the world cup only weeks away in reality I suspect his place is already secured and limited game time here may not be a hinderance. Who knows how it will turn out but worth a punt probably.
So if this comes off we'll all be supporting Costa Rica at the World Cup once England have been knocked out in the early rounds. Don't we already have Roberts to play there tho, he's not getting many chances lately, has he upset AN?.
Fair enough. Would love to know why he used the term 'dream signing' though. Seems very odd saying to me, unless you have been fed that line for a reason. I doubt anyone at Sunderland have told anyone he is our dream signing, even if he is highly rated. Maybe I am reading too much into it, but I dont think I have seen that sort of language used before.
You’re joking but I’ve been thinking about Salzburg and the kids they sign for weeks now.. I’m sure they’re trafficking people in Africa
I’d rather try this than a sub standard journeyman with no pace after his last payday like the last time in this division.
