Because I like the players? I don't care about their teams. Is it that big a deal keeping an eye on ex-City players?

Okay, and? Having decent, young players come and go at the club doesn’t mean fans have to care about them once they’ve gone. There’s not a single name you mentioned I keep tabs on or care about.

Particularly with Robbo doing well it rubs the noses of Liverpool supporters who sneered at his signing in the dirt, which is also a good thing.

Bowen doing well flies in the face of opposition supporters who always thought we were over-hyping him and didn't think he could do it in the PL.

The better our ex-players do the more it reinforces the quality of player we develop at our club as Orange said. Ex-players doing well reflects well on the club, so yeah I will always hope they succeed and enjoy when they do.

Nope. Why is it a big deal that I don’t give a **** about them either way? Like I said, ambivalence.

And that's your right, just as it's my/our right to keep tabs on them. Everyone gets what they want and the world keeps turning.

I never said it was a big deal that you don't give a ****. I said it didn't make sense to me, much as me following them doesn't make sense to you. You (and others) have been the ones to start this discussion asking why people care. You're perfectly entitled not to care.

You said it confused you why we don’t care. I don’t see it confusing at all that some fans don’t really have a vested interest in players who no longer play for, or are involved in, the club in any way.

Loyalty in football is a two-way street. KLP had wanted out since we were in League 1 and ****ed off his hometown club after one decent season in the Championship. I don’t wish him ill but I don’t really care unless we benefit from it financially.

Fair enough, I don't follow every move they make either, and deffo wouldn't swoon over a Keano goal against colchester like some of the twitter and FB brigade have. It's just expected at that level.

but I'd rather see them succeed than not. It's good for the club when they do.

I just find the obsession with ex-players by some City fans to be a bit tinpot and cringe, especially if those players are still playing in English football. Like, some fans still swoon over the likes of Livermore and Snodgrass who downed tools and forced through moves. I’ve got time for the likes of Meyler and Hernández who still seem to have some affection for the club but I couldn’t really give a **** about any ex-player who’s still playing in English football. To me, they are now opposition or potential opposition and nothing more.

Yeah, the Wilks thing was hilarious too.

'didn't ask for a move'. Probably didn't directly, but he's had terms agreed for months and has been pushing for it for over a year.

Funny you should mention Wilks because I doubt most on here, Twitter and Facebook will be checking on Wednesday’s results to see if Wilks scored or hoping he does well there but it’s considered ‘confusing’ if some of us don’t care if a Hull lad who ****ed off his hometown club does well in the Premier League? Do people care if Dan James does well for the ****s over the M62? At the end of the day I only care for City and the players playing for us. I’ll watch other football games but I don’t care for the players in those games or the result.

You can live your life your way and I'll live mine my way, if that's ok with you? Not sure the need to continue trying to dig me out over how I follow City and ex-City players. It really doesn't seem the sort of thing worth getting worked up about.

When Dan James snubbed Leeds for United I found it quite funny and ribbed some Leeds supporters I know and bigged up the City link, and when he got a shocker of a red that almost cost Leeds their spot in the PL last season the opportunity was there for 'Agent James' jibes, but no in general I don't get particularly interested if he does well. Same for Wilks, given the manner of his departure I don't think I'd follow his results, but by comparison when Magennis does well for Wigan I'm happy for him as he was a good servant and no doubt the same for Eaves. Think that's ok?

You called out my 'confused' comment directly in your post, don't play coy now.

Oh yeah, that bit was. The rest wasn’t. You can do whatever the **** you like, mate. But this is a forum where we discuss things so if you think me mentioning your ‘confused’ comment was digging you out, I suggest you don’t take things so personally. It’s not that deep. That ok with you?

"I directed that bit of my post at you, but don't take the things I say as being directed at you" haha just a bit of a confusing contradiction there. But all good. Yes it's a forum where things get discussed, but you seemed a bit upset at me suggesting that following ex-players is ok, so I left it, but you wanted to carry on, that's all. Go for your life.

Yeah, the snodgrass thing leaves a sour taste. When he wanted out he'd just lump the ball as far as he could in training apparently to force the move.

Sorry but deliberately disruptive doesn't deserve the hero status some regard him in.

Of course stuff like that goes on pretty commonly sadly, such is some of these players true regard the fans who ultimately fund them.

Think that was Livermore who did that, unless both did, but yeah that's a pretty rubbish way to leave the club.

Mate, there's plenty of stuff city related on podcasts with ex players. Some stuff would scarcely be believable if it wasn't ex players saying it.
