You can't blame the Stoke fans for thinking we're cloggers, yesterday was that kind of game, they weren't exactly Brazil.

The referee didn't help and we do seem to suffer from their desperation to wave the yellow card at us.

I thought we'd look tired after the massive wasted effort on Wednesday.

This was our second away game in a few days and it showed. There was little of the slick passing we're used to and even Pritchard looked tired.

They always say that good teams know how to 'win ugly' ...

... this was Peter Beardsley level <laugh>

A few championship teams (including Norwich) are in cup action this week so a week of rest and prep will do us good for Saturday.

So pleased we swerved all this tbh.

We could've been playing Rochdale this week, not too exciting ... the Mags are at Tranmere in a game they could lose.

As you say the more games our Championship rivals have, the better.

More chance for red cards and injuries ...

... Burnley and Blackpool picked up a suspension each, yesterday, in a game where they only gained one point.

Every little helps.

Yep, glad we're out of a Mickey Mouse cup.....gives us a chance to regroup this week.

Yeah that's my worry too.

Wouldn't worry too much at the minute. I love the boy...think he's a real star in the making. He got done with one over the top...he's a massive talent, but not yet the finished article. Still only 19,he'll be with us for a while. I think him ,Clarke and Stewart will rip this division this season....it'll be the following one which will define.

The only time I'd want to really compete, in the cups, is if we had a chance of winning it ...

... and nothing to lose by giving it a real go.

That would entail being 'safe' in the PL but not yet at a level to challenge for the top six.

As things stand I think we have the chance to go up if we get more players, either now or in January.

Early exits from the cups only restricts the game time we can give to the fringe players imo.

Stoke fans saying we remind them of Don Revie's Leeds but without the skill :emoticon-0102-bigsm
Absolutely no skill involved in the goal was there? Clarke took the easy option pass over the top to Stewart an stead of the more difficult 5 yard pass back to Cirkin….

Love bad losers. We’ve had bad winners on Wednesday and bad losers yesterday. That’ll do me

Exactly. It shows we must be doing something right. As a side note, I only learned today that the city of Stoke has loads of Mackems and Geordies down there. Apparently loads of us went looking for work due to pit closures and many settled down there in the 60's and 70's.

Completely agree, cups are an unnecessary distraction. We've see that with the Johnson's Paint trophy or whatever it's called, pretty sure that cost us getting out of L1 earlier than we did a couple of times.

Much rather go out in round 1 than struggle all the way to the quarters (best case scenario, imo) and end up with nowt to show for it anyway.

Great minds think alike

100% agree with the cup, glad we are out of it.

Only way to approach it for a team like us is getting minutes into the lads who haven't played, we did that and they didn't do enough to be able to do the same this week.

I wouldn’t call it a Mickey Mouse cup but glad we’re out of it, it’s definitely not the time for us to put any focus on the cups.

I also prefer the League Cup to the FA simply because of where the semi finals are held. Proper winds me up :emoticon-0100-smile

Anyone tell me where I can watch full match or highlights of Stoke fame, please?

Didn't see a great deal of the game other than following updates on my phone as I've been away but over the moon with the result. Another great three points and how nice to get a clean sheet too!

We've got lads missing through injury and suspension yet we've gone and got a good result. A few decent additions before the window shuts and we'll do just fine.

Went for a drink at the cricket club near the ground after the match, and a few Stoke fans took exception to one of the lads having a Sunderland flag round his shoulders. They were really bitter that they'd lost to "****" Sunderland, and it kicked off with a lot of shouting and pushing. Sore losers spoilt our post match pint.

Always been the same, they have nothing to live for.

The trouble is that even if you wipe them out it still takes the shine off the pint.
