I hate the very high line we play these days and have done from the start mainly as there is so much space to play the ball into that it doesn't need to be a good ball and can be played almost blind .

It works when we are pressing well and energetic. Last couple games have been non existent, so high line gets exposed.

Ok. Watched the Darwin red. What on earth was he thinking? That was a huge overreaction from Darwin to get a red. Who headbutts in response to a slight push? Now everyone in England is going to know he has a short fuse and bait him.

Hopefully that is not something we'll see more of. The Palace player fell like he had been shot though. Drama queen.
Not defending Nunez's actions at all, but I suspect that he'd been having niggles with Ederson all game and the push was the final straw. He's going to get that every game, so needs to deal with it.

i really don't think it makes any difference to the press if the CB's are 10-15 yards deeper . In fact by leaving a bit more space it may help to open up the game as we are far more dangerous when their is space to play/move into rather than trying to break down a 10 man defence .

Andersen, and not only he, was all over him and Salah and Diaz throughout the game so no doubt it was building up - but I agree there's no excuse. He has to be able to deal with that without losing his rag. He's not a kid, and he must have had treatment like that plenty of times before.
He's certainly going to get plenty of it from now on now he's shown a reaction like that.

he's fallen for it.

the club won't admit the truth but i reckon some sledging went on. a few putas and such about family.

the pattern of palace antics was crystal clear. the ref in general wasn't giving them anything when they flopped and rolled about til arew dropped faking a head injury. He was forced to stop play by the rules. they were screaming when touched etc etc.

The only gripe as the ref was actually not buying their stuff was he never booked a dive.

if we want to say salah was pulled and dragged everywhere fine but then we have to see the ref would have been giving them frees all over the park.

I felt we lost out way after 20mins and people started doing in general their own things rather than what was effective and we just lost it.

There are things to be "positive" about. I think killing phillips over trying to follow the plan and play offside when in fact fabinho cocked up blocking off the break up the park is a bit harsh. he blocked off 3 different breaks with zaha before the goal.

I think elliott started well and played good when free to do the role and not just stuck wide as someone "wandered"

Nunez got in several good positions. He got in at the far stick twice and made a good run salah found second half. he also ran the channel ok and stayed onside. The state of his finishing and what he did when he got the ball wide was awful but at least being positive he found positions.

not quite everyone but there was a fair amount of self harming going on with the added "bonus" of Treble posting some of Mito's better rants on the General Matchday thread .

Thats a LFC board ban then :)

moving stuff over to wherever is cheap.

I'll put a thread ban on all his favourite thread here for the ****s and giggles.

other positive elements. some bit of fight shwon by some players.

esp diaz who just ran all over.

the fact we can't get this lad into good areas to play is a bit worrying but he demonstrates each game that when he's got into a good area the strike can be spectacular.

not sure how LFC can make more of this guys attributes, we need him running a channel in on goal imo.

Tierney should have dealt with Anderson well before the incident happened; he'd been goading him all match. He asked for it, but Nunez should have nutted him after the final whistle. That said, would we have equalised had he not gone off? I'm not sure. Our poor finishing is worrying me already

Side question - is Goalden Girl still in print? I'd have thought you and your publisher would want to push that atm? Good luck to you if you can.

At least Treble talks to us, ban him and all we're left with is Diego - and nobody wants that.

Remember the bad old days when there were more Mancs than us on our board? I wonder what can have happened to change that?

These new interpretations by the referees are interesting. We all want a more open game and less play acting for frees. But I don’t think a defender in the penalty area should be allowed to put both arms around an attacker thus preventing and spin or turn when the ball comes. Anderson and others were at this all night and at least one of them should have been a penalty, or else make it clear that this is now allowed and our defenders can do it too. Palace play acting, delaying tactics and goading tactics were a disgrace but Nunez fell for it. Not much contact but Anderson went down like he had been clobbered and knew it would be a red card for Nunez. A draw felt like a defeat but there were a lot of positives too. The problem is that with City, give them a four point lead after two games and you are hoping they will slip up, and they don’t do that very often

Diaz will be burnt out by the time he's 30 if he carries on - he's all over the bloody place. Getting him into goal-scoring positions will be tricky when Mo and Nunez are already tripping over one another in the box.
Maybe we'll see it a bit more whilst Nunez is suspended?

Elliott had a very good first half but couldn't keep it up for ever.

Same old problem of struggling to break down a massed defence.
Not enough width, imo. Trent coming inside just reduces our wide options all the time. Kostas tried to get some crosses in when he came on, but seemed to have brought the wrong boots with him.

It was a definite improvement on the Fulham performance, but still well sub-standard for our ability. Their antics were a disgrace and that was defo a penalty when Salah was grappled in the box. Very ****ing frustrating <grr>

Anderson was doing the same to Jesus all game in the arsenal palace game last week. Any time ball got played into Jesus Anderson was behind hi. Giving him little kicks and pushes.

It's silly when you are a big unit that you don't just walk away and tell the lads to float one up then jump into the **** and absolutely smash his teeth in competing for the ball.

this is "a mans game" according to souness and the ref left everything bar studs go. it was a free for all pulling and dragging so i'm sure a smashing into the side of that guy would have not yielded more than a yellow.

the reaction by the 10 (or subs should i say) was good though. the went about the job. good crowd too.
