That depends on what his demands were initially and what he finally signed. Can you tell me the details or are you assuming based on a distorted media picture?

If they did cave then fair play, he ultimately justified his demands to the point Liverpool felt they couldn't replace him for less.

    That's called negotiation.

He had fairly publicised wage and length of contract demands which he ultimately got. It's all the public domain if you care that much although not sure why we're discussing Salah.

There you go getting personal again. Disrespect, disingenuous etc. Wind your neck in lad.

You seriously expect (or even think it's practically possible, for) them to renegotiate every contract in 6 months?

Honeyman just wanted the same as the higher earners wherever he went. That effectively means we offer him 30k a week to keep him or he goes somewhere else he'll have parity in both wages and squad status - he wants to be valued as highly as any other teammate.

We can only lose avg 13m a year. Do the maths on a 3 year deal. We don't sign Seri and Tufan as well as Honeyman on the same money. Permitted losses won't allow that alongside payrises for everyone else and the signings we have made and still need to make if the owners are serious about top 6. Not just this year, but next year and the year after - the rolling 3 years.

If you listen to Deano's 'under the cosh', the way Duffen got around it was a 250k promotion bonus.

You seriously think calling your comment disingenuous is personal? What on Earth?

That's like saying suggesting that someone is wrong about something is getting personal.

Who said they have to renegotiate every contract? What are you on about?

How else to you close the gap between the mccann era signings and the Acun ones?

And yes, disingenuous pretty much has connotations of decipt, fake and everything else the thesaurus says when you look up disingenuous. Maybe you might wish to reflect on your use of language and be a better person...?

Or maybe I just like you more when you're being a ****.

Gradually. As players come out of contract or - in the case of KLP and Greaves specifically - are playing at a clear level above their current contract - renegotiate new deals. For the bulk of the squad (Docherty, Jones, McLoughlin, etc.) that's not necessary.

How much would we get for Greaves?

Presumably a large transfer fee will help with getting more players through the door for ffp.

lets face it, the priority is to get promotion, not to make sure greaves is set up for life

I would think keeping Greaves is one of the best ways to set up for promotion.

We've got a year after this season - and an option year. There's no rush. Salahs hand was significantly stronger than Greaves perhaps?

Of course we aren't rushed if we are determined not to sell, I said this the last time the Greaves situation came up. However if his head gets turned or the club thinks the fee offered by another club is worth it more than the hassle of negotiating with Greaves then he'll be gone this window. That's why some of us think it is important to sign him up as it sounds like noises around the club are they would listen to offers over a certain amount.

What's the relevance of that when comparing their ability this season? If Figs went down with a season ending injury I'd be less upset than I would be if the same happened to Greaves.

And for all the talk of "Why do you think they need to be offering Greaves a new contract when he has two years left" the club IS trying to offer him a new contract, so clearly the logic of getting our best players to sign on new improved deals is not that faulty..

No they aren't, some agents have and continue to really help players they represent and also as ( Newcastletiger said I think ) they can really help clubs move on players.

Some though as you say are absolutely awful parasites and it seems to get worse the higher up the pyramid you go

That being said, as a player I'd rather have one then not

So you want the club to cave in, add to wage disparity so they don't get the chance to consider an offer which might make more sense in terms of promotion ambition and FFP?

Did you get his tattoo or something?
