Wasn’t there a player Lee Johnson talked about as physical problems being psychological or an I remembering wrong ?

I seem to remember this being Alex Neil when Broadhead was coming back from injury but given that he had spells out when Johnson was here, it could well be that! My memorys not what it used to be but it was definitely about Broadhead so the point stands and I’m sticking by it

There was a comment made by Alex Neil last season where he was asked if Broadhead was fit to play. His answer was something along the lines of “he thinks he can give us 30 minutes. Typical Broady” or words to that effect.
I think that shows there have been doubts about his mindset, overprotecting himself rather than giving it a go which have been present for a while. I don’t think it’s something people are just making up.
I remember that but took it the other way. I.e. that he wasnt match fit but would be graft for 30 mins for the cause. If it were the other way round no way would Alex Neil have been chasing him all summer for a perm deal in my opinion.

Midfielder.

Surely it’s strikers they need to go for. It’s only Rondon they have up front I think (given Calvert-Lewin is out for a couple of months).

They’re desperate for a forward or 2, definitely. Rondon is nowhere near good enough these days…

Was this the one where someone, can't recall if it was AN or not, that if Broady wasn't 100%, he would not play????

Spot on. I now he had some confidence issues in the past and that is usually the case with players who are in and out of rehab due to injury. But I have to say, this has surprised me, especially as he wanted to come from the offset.

Shame, we move on with a team who are ready to fight and meet AN expectations. Anyone else is fodder.
The bizarre thing is it was him not being fit to play that reduced his appearances and maybe prevented us getting automatic. Now he says he’s worried he may not play because of competition. Like a sulky teenager.

Nothing to say it’s us like but it would make sense.

Good player, imo.

If Broadhead has changed his mind down to competition it probably shows he isn't the confident player i thought he was and clearly he isn't the right signing for us. No doubt he has probably put an end to him ever signing for us.

Interesting though that Alex Neil only says 'I think'. Reads as if he is assuming that is the reason, as opposed to Broadhead has told him that is the case. He could be putting 2 and 2 together and assuming he is getting 4, and maybe he is right. It is plausible though that something else has changed Broadheads decision. I suggested earlier about the influence international managers can have on players in world cup years.

As for the belief in himself, attitude etc being an issue I just dont buy it for one minute. He was at the club last year, Alex Neil worked with him, as did the coaches and hierarchy. Plenty of time to get to know all about his character and attitude and self-belief. They clearly thought everything was good enough to pursue a perm deal all summer. Now it seems because he has chosen another club he doesnt have the right attitide or self-belief. Not for me I am afraid. We all wanted him here, in my case a lot, but just because he has turned us down doesnt mean the conspiracy theories, and suggestions about his mentality, are the way to go...
I would have loved him here mate and at the end of the day it's his decision and I wish him well and will be grateful to him because I honestly believe without him last season we would still be in league one.
We will never know how far negotiations were but I think AN was expecting him to sign . It may well have coincided with the result at the weekend and it is just a case of Wigan were interested, he's probably going to make more appearances , closer to home and we can't forget its a loan so he will still be getting the wage he's on at Everton that to me is a list of good reasons why he would pick Wigan over us.
I wasn't having a go at the lad just picking up on what AN said, that may be a bit of sour grapes on his part if he thought he had him in the bag because if we had those 3 strikers on the books IMHO we would have had the deadliest strike force in the league

Yeah mate, spot on. I was replying to you but also everyone else, so wasnt having a pop. It just seems he is being labelled a bottler on here when it could be much more likely other reasons. Unless Broadhead bitee back at Neil, which he is undoubtedly advised against, it remains one fellas theory, and probably some anger on his part, and maybe some playing to the crowd as well. We will never know for sure...
