I remember a Rangers fan telling me Reyna would be an awful signing because he was just another "plodder"

Fans aren't always the best judge. If we sign him, I'll leave it up to Alex Neil to be the judge
Totally get that but im also judging him on what ive seen over the last few years and his injury record.

If it is him then i really hope im proven wrong with my opinions

I wonder if we hear Broadheads side of the story. I even wonder if he spoke to Alex Neil and said your two existing forwards look better than me and I want to start. I would doubt if very much, but we will probably never know. A world cup year often makes players make odd decisions on where they play. You can bet Rob Page has set some expectations on him before he can be picked, and Wigan have made some promises. Interesting that he was ok to come to us on a perm, but gone to Wigan on a loan. Probably quite ruthless on his part and he gets his free agent signing on bonus somewhere next year, maybe even here. Some may say he has bottled it, or not up for the fight, others may think this is a sign of an ambitious player in a world cup year who is selfish and backs himself to make the grade over his career. At least we know the club were keen to get him, and they know a quality player when they see one, I was worried they were walking away for some soft reason or another. Good luck to him, he can come here on a free next season for me, no problem.
He's in peter pan - wendy - hook- (what was the dog's name) situation mode, think's he can do better or has been told where to go.

I get the impression from what AN has said about the broadhead situation is that if a player doesn't think he's got enough belief in himself that he's good enough to get starts in the first team just because the front 2 on Saturday both had great games then he's not the right fit for the club.

Hope not. I'm not doing a 5 hour round trip with work in the morning to see a bunch of kids running around

I can see them playing with a view to getting them loan deals for the season.
Cant see this comp being a priority and Sheff Wed seem to be struggling for numbers a little bit from what I read at the weekend

Aye. Am guessing it will be severely lacking the intensity our last game there had

Interesting though that Alex Neil only says 'I think'. Reads as if he is assuming that is the reason, as opposed to Broadhead has told him that is the case. He could be putting 2 and 2 together and assuming he is getting 4, and maybe he is right. It is plausible though that something else has changed Broadheads decision. I suggested earlier about the influence international managers can have on players in world cup years.

As for the belief in himself, attitude etc being an issue I just dont buy it for one minute. He was at the club last year, Alex Neil worked with him, as did the coaches and hierarchy. Plenty of time to get to know all about his character and attitude and self-belief. They clearly thought everything was good enough to pursue a perm deal all summer. Now it seems because he has chosen another club he doesnt have the right attitide or self-belief. Not for me I am afraid. We all wanted him here, in my case a lot, but just because he has turned us down doesnt mean the conspiracy theories, and suggestions about his mentality, are the way to go...

We want battlers not bottlers, wish him all the best but by god he could live to regret his decision. I am more concerned about a mobile midfielder and right-back if I am honest.

Diamond should have been loaned out earlier in his career imo. Played too much u23 footy. He will be a decent enough L1 player I reckon.

There was a comment made by Alex Neil last season where he was asked if Broadhead was fit to play. His answer was something along the lines of “he thinks he can give us 30 minutes. Typical Broady” or words to that effect.
I think that shows there have been doubts about his mindset, overprotecting himself rather than giving it a go which have been present for a while. I don’t think it’s something people are just making up.

Absolutely mad , the club have worked on the deal for so long, permanent. Only for the player to drop his arse, due to some healthy competition and head to a club on his doorstep on loan instead.

Weak as piss that.
This^ if he believed in himself he should of relished the challenge to get in the team

Wasn’t there a player Lee Johnson talked about as physical problems being psychological or an I remembering wrong ?
