For us he would be a great addition I can just see Everton thinking he will be better elsewhere with more game time.
It feels like journos are randomly stabbing in the dark when it comes to Sunderland because we're so tight lipped these days.
I agree in some points but what I was trying to say is that if you give a player a contract then it should be honoured weather that player is financially in need of the money doesn't really matter what is galling us the fact they owe players money for contracts they pit them on and now don't want to pay up or want them to leave and then pay them back over a number of years whilst spending money like its going out of fashion. Its not right and should be stopped in my opinion as they are buying players they can't even register as they will breach league rules it's laughable and makes a mockery of the system
he’s saying it’s taking longer than expected, which tallies entirely with what prehab and Bob are saying. Free agent center back
I doubt we’ll be signing another centre back, already have signed 2 this summer, re signed Wright and have 2 more that can cover there. Full back yeah, centre half, I doubt highly.
I think there's a good chance we've taken a look at this league and decided 3 centre backs is the way forward. It gives us more protection at the back and allows us to get Simms and Stewart on the pitch at the same time. Wright and Batth are both in their 30's now so may well pick up a few more injuries or need that extra recovery time between games. Alese is in his first full season and is unlikely to have 40 games in him. A 5th centre back seems necessary in that context, and even more so if he has a bit of flexibility.
He'd be a great signing. Fits the bill perfectly as well as a 3rd forward option who has the the flexibility to play on the wing.
Equally Cirkin can clearly be considered as an option for one of the three spots. Potentially O’Nien and Winchester too though they’d probably be a less than favourable resort. If we are to bring in another then they’d have to have a bit of flexibility as you say otherwise it would just feel like bad squad management.
If 3 at the back is the way we are going then I'd like to see a proper Left wing back come in. Clarke has done well, but over 46 games I think his lack of defensive nous will get us in trouble unless we bring in a solid, defensive midfielder who can drop into the 3 when we are defending and have Ballard/Cirkin cover the full back positions.
Barca and Madrid are UEFA’s darlings, doubt anything will happen. They’ve been breaking the rules for decades, not just since FFP was introduced - which is about as useful as a floppy cock.
