Wow - the Cucurella deal is 55m and could rise to 62m. That is crazy

Colwill only gone on loan to Brighton, rather than a perm deal, which is why the extra cost

Still 12m more than originally assumed. I know that said “at least 50m”. But more than 60m is a big jump. No wonder Man City walked away

Not sure Chelsea needed to do £62m on Cucurella either. Keep an eye on them, they’re about to get real crazy in these next three weeks.

    They seem to be panicking.

Lots of pundits and journalists are suggesting they might drop out of the top 4 and maybe they fear it as well? But a lot of this seems like it would be based on a few poor pre season results

Have to admit that I really do not understand the panic spending. LB was a short-term problem for them, but unless Chilwell doesn't completely recover from his cruciate injury (which admittedly is a possibility) it wasn't a spend-all-the-money problem. They really don't need a right back, never mind a very expensive right back. They needed a couple attackers, and Stirling/a halfway competent striker should have sufficed there, and broadly speaking the rest of the squad seemed totally fine to me.

They've done well in extending Cesars contract too, To me that should end needing a back up RB/RWB.

£62 million for Cucurella just proves that KWP would be worth at least £50 million in this market.

It's worth pointing out that Cucurella had 4 years left on his deal and KWP has 2 so that would have an impact on valuations.

You’re damned if you do and you’re damned if you don’t

You want the player equivalent of the pre-sacking managerial vote of confidence?

I have a bit of an inside track on the Che Adams saga, he isn't a fan of Ralph to put it politely especially after playing second fiddle to Broja last season event when he was throwing his toys out the pram and not scoring
He was very irratated by Armstrong being played as a striker instead of him and will almost certainly leave if he doesn't get picked to start tomorrow
KWP is a good friend of Che and also dissent like Ralph for picking Tino ahead of him and being played at LB instead of his preferred RB. He is seriously looking to move to Chelsea
Both have 2 years left on their contracts and have been offered new and improved contracts but they are unlikely to sign. Both hoped Ralph was going to be sacked this summer and aren't looking forward to starting the season with him in charge

Concerning to say the least especially KWP

TBH that just sounds like an anti-Ralph fan mouthing off.

It can’t all be since inherently the KWP part is linked

KWP has three years left - not two.

And so I can get this straight - KWP left a European qualifying club where wasn’t playing to get game time. He is apparently annoyed at not being played in his favoured position but still playing. So the proposed solution is for him to go and be back up for Reece James and Cucurella - seemingly permanently as they are of similar age - or younger in the case of James ?

That doesn’t sound right to me

The Che stuff seems semi plausible. They have the contract length right and he does seem under played - including in pre season

If our 5-3-2 is more of a 5-3-1-1 then really he is best suited to a focal point but has had limited chance at that

Not everyone is going to like the manager. Ever. (Unless it’s Poch or Klopp, probably).

Playing him at left back has improved his game significantly. He can now cross with his left foot so defenders can’t decide whether he going to the by line or cut inside. IMO he’s far more dangerous as LB and clearly enjoying himself. Like others I suspect the story has a certain amount of bias by the storyteller.

It doesn't come from a disgruntled Saints fan, its from a disgruntled Leicester fan who is a friend of Che who is regular contact
