Sucks that Colwill is going to Brighton of all places. You really would think he would want to come here being a local and all. Such unfortunate timing. That said - it is a separate deal. So no idea how much they are pricing him at
This lad is a left back so not necessarily. Although spending £90m on 2 full backs when you have Chilwell and James would be unusual.
I wonder if there is some outrageous idea to sign both Delap and Broja - one on loan the other permanent. With Che leaving The only reason I bring up Delap is that he was linked with a loan to stoke but it hasn’t happened yet - and loans by their nature can happen quickly. Especially with no purchase clauses. It still seems outlandish that we would try and bring in three strikers in one window
Colwill is apparently 20-25m - which explains why we haven’t got him. For as highly rated as he is that is a lot of a club like us to spend on a 19 year old defender with one season at Huddersfield without bringing in some funds first A case could be made that we should have got him instead of ABK but Brighton had leverage of Chelsea wanting a player they had
The replies to the tweet are suggesting that this is an attempt to undermine Romano. Which was my initial thought too. Which would be pretty daft if true.
Were we interested though? We have 6 CBs. I thought maybe there might be one more if Bedders left as rumoured but it looks like Ralph still rates him and expects him to be the leader at the back. In fairness, he's looked decent in preseason.
not just the sea that’s salty in Brighton. I hear Les Reed is clearing his throat ready to conduct a press conference for them.
I did not see the The Times report but Phil McNulty was equally dismissive of Saints in his predictions yesterday. He has us fiishing 17th but with the caveat that he does not predict this with much confidence. He is not someone I often agree with and there is also a degree of laviness in what he has predicted. For what it is worth, I think that we will finish above Fulham , Brenford, Brighton,Leicester, Everton and Leeds. Nottingham Forest may well surprise people and I think McNulty has probably been premature in wiritng off Bournemouth too. What I am not so sure about is whether Ralph will still be in charge and i also reckon there will be changes ar Everton,Leeds and perhpas Newcastle if Howe does not achieve the expectations. I think we have more signings to come but the new owners will be hoping for more bang for their buck. All in all, I am quite happy for Saints to be written off by the pundits who i cannot really agree with unless we fail to sign a decent and proven striker. I would be happy to cash in Adam Armstrong is this was necessary to get a quality name through the door.
Well, given a reporter close to saints said that these reports were way wide of the mark I suspect that this is just reproduced trash.
