The ‘English Nationalist’ party that does absolutely nothing for England and doesn’t represent the interests of England. I hate the term, I’ve extensively ranted about it before though so I’ll stop there. I absolutely detest both Truss and Sturgeon, but it’s pretty short term to be going so hard on the red meat for 150,000 members when you have to worry about getting votes off of an electorate of millions shortly after.
Replace Nationalist with Populist - Nationalist implies a real commitment, where populist is jumping on any bandwagon and jumping off again when it doesn't suit
Truss becoming Tory leader would almost certainly be good news for Labour in the next election. Think what damage she could do to our country in two years though.
There is an outside chance that she will get a temporary poll boost upon victory and consider calling an election rather than waiting for things to get worse. She surely doesn’t believe she can turn things around in two years? Unless she doesn’t care and is just going to try and steal as much as she can in that period for her and her supporters There is also a very real chance that she doesn’t make it to the election due to being so inept but not having the charisma to try and cover that up
I can see her accidentally self-immolating, either literally or metaphorically. There's still plenty of time for her to screw up the leadership ballot, hasn't there been a delay announced due to a hacking threat? The universe appears to be conspiring against the Conservative Party; lately not before time imo.
A hacking scare is just going to push people more towards, ironically, the biggest hack in the candidate list (or the most right wing )
Johnson level competency and May level charisma, a heady mixture. This Winter is going be a real eye opener for the general public money and quality of life wise I reckon, she will have to be a magician to navigate it politically. I don’t want to tempt fate though as I want these anti-British, traitorous and corrupt charlatans out.
Greg, I think that Shandy would like to be a 'True Blue', card-carrying Conservative, but he was accidentally thinking aloud whilst his voice-activated keyboard was in 'type' mode, and he has just realised what he did, hence the 'Oops' Either that, or was typing in the wrong thread, but there's no conspiracy theories to be made from that

Here's a surprise. Sunak telling party supporters in Tubridge Wells last week that he'll take money from deprived urban areas and direct it to places like, well, Tunbridge Wells. Out loud.
I find myself thinking more and more about why I voted for the Tories in every election since I could first vote (87) to 2015. It worries me. I suspect that it's no coincidence that I admitted my atheism about the same time as I changed my voting patterns. After all, if I could overlook the lack of convincing evidence to support the existence of gods, I could imagine that the Tories were competent and capable and cared about others. I guess once I'd awakened my scepticism on the one subject others were bound to follow. I mentioned recently when I was fooled to believe something about Trump that was blatantly misrepresented. That bothers me as well. It still concerns me deeply how often I've been fooled even when contrary evidence (or lack of it) has been directly in front of me. Sorry that this is philosophical rather than overtly political but my (very human) failings of rationality are very dear to my heart.
Well I wouldn't be too hard on yourself. We are not rational beings; the trick is to spot when social conditioning, emotion and prejudice are clouding your judgement. And to question everything, all of the time. You can't change your football team though, not ever. You're tied to that till the bitter end I'm afraid.
