Is England a safe place to visit? This is the result of years of underfunding, the same goes for care and emergency services. https://www.itv.com/news/2022-07-27...al-trolleys-for-days-as-nhs-struggles-to-cope
I knew this was the problem, but didn’t realise how bad it had been for the last 12 years! Time for the Mail to break out the ‘Third world health system’ headlines they only use when there’s a Labour government? We’re being robbed in broad daylight while conspiracists twitter about who’s hiding in the shadows
I opened this thinking it was discussing the tory leadership campaigns. https://www.wreckwatchmag.com/
Terrible for her to tweet this, especially after the MP who was stabbed to death recently…….very poor of her.
I have been quite aware of their continuing and deliberate underfunding of the NHS for some time, but the graph spells it out so clearly. The Tories have always been very clever at duping the public, when discussing money spent on the NHS, regularly trotting out the phrase “No government has ever put more money into the NHS than this one”, which is true. BUT they never add “We know the amount is insufficient to meet the needs and the percentage increase, year on year, is quite pathetic when it is compared to the percentage increases under Labour.” Sadly, too many people are denied this information as a direct result of purchasing the wrong newspaper or through dismissing concerns raised by people they might know. Even a few years back, one of my working class, Tory voting brothers was defending the lack of expenditure on the NHS, that is continually dragging the service down, saying that the NHS was unsustainable. Totally fallen for the mantra, hook, line and sinker.
This graph shows spending v GDP The blue verticals are recessions where spend increases relative to GP but not in reality If you look at the trend Spend decreases and then flattens under the Tories 51-64 (Chuchill, Eden, MacMillan, Douglas-Home) Increases under Wilson 64-70 and continues under Heath & Callaghan Decreases under Thatcher and then rises until 2010 under Major Blair Brown So Labour always increase spend and the Tories also did under Heath and Major
The Tories can't risk saying its unsustainable so just force people down the private route with poor service Dentists not taking new NHS patients, happy to take private Audiology having long waiting times and no Earwax removal service (£60-£95 privately) Long waiting lists for surgery so a record number of patients paying for private treatment n.b. Those that can afford these treatments are paying for them from the tax they save from a lower income tax economy which if they'd paid it could have provided NHS treatment for them for free or ?
I remain convinced that Liz Truss will get elected and maybe even before a final vote of Tory party members as I can see Sunak being asked to step aside due to disharmony for the party. The next year will be fascinating in Bitish politics. I can see a Truss government facing a no confidence vote within 6 months and I have to admit that I feel it woud be impossible for her to be anything more than a stop gap. It would be too great a leap of faith to imagine her leading the Tories in the next general election. I feel she will get binned very quickly but I am not convinved that Labour party members will feel much better about Starmer. I said during the pandemic that Boris would not last. In my opinion, Truss as leader will be a disaster and will be out on her ear pretty sharpish.
There is nothing left to destroy. Johnson has seen to that and the next tory leader is set to trample all over the wreckage.
I have seen it claimed, by a political journalist, that Suella Braverman, the Tory Attorney General, has instructed some civil servants to “cease automatically warning Ministers when the UK Conservative government is breaking the law.” So, let the lies continue. Braverman’s instruction is, according to my civil servant niece, a “direct contravention of the Civil Service Code.” My niece’s first response, when I messaged her, was “Oh Christ. That is appalling.” My niece has actually been working with Sunak, owing to her latest role within HMRC, whilst her husband has been working alongside Truss. She wouldn’t dish any dirt but confirmed that Sunak (as we already know) is smarter and that her hubby (like most people who aren’t Tory members) “is not impressed” by Truss. For balance, although my niece has spent so many years working with Tory MPs, I should add that politically she ****ing hates them and everything that they stand for.
12 years of Conservative misrule has brought the country to it’s knees, and you’re worried about left wingers? ****ing hell.
Yes. Yes I am. Because screaming for absurd purity tests and attacking the Labour Party for trying to be electable will result in even more years of conservative misrule. I don’t understand why this is so hard for people to grasp Just like the people who attack blair and his government. We should be begging for that now just to shift us back in a sensible direction and then go from there After such a long period of misrule and the utterly awful state of most public services and the laughable Tory leadership candidates the only way labour lose is by stuff like the above - being attacked and discredited by people who should be supporting them. What use do pushing them into unelectable positions actually do? What does it achieve for these people? Other than making their own lives worse? People are quick to criticise Brexit voters for voting to make themselves worse off. Taking a gun and pointing it at the feet of the only party who even remotely: - is electable; and - has your interests at heart and then pulling the trigger time after time is not the way to go about things So yes. I am worried about left wingers. And it isn’t zero sum either. I can be worried about both But I expect the conservatives to destroy this country to enrich themselves and their donors. It is baked in. I do not expect it from left wingers
