Brendan Rodgers is saying that they need to balance the books...no ins without some outs. Could be a very tricky season for them if they lose a couple of assets and don't buy well. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/62378757
No one signed him after those euros. But I guess that might have been trying to avoid tournament related inflation? Intriguing that he came in for Eriksen in that tournament. So some real imagination from Brentford there …
Not to worry. According the a mod on the Leicester Not606 board who never shuts up their squad is already amazing, they are of equal stature to arsenal and they won’t be selling anyone who they don’t want to sell So I’m sure they will be fine !
"I have absolutely no sympathy for Southampton. They have a choice as a club. They don't have to sell. They had that choice. Maybe Southampton's objectives have changed. They were on course to be a Champions League club, I believe, but obviously, that has changed," -- Brendan Rodgers, August 2014 Shame
Anyone know why Saints fans on twitter constantly refer to Bednarek as "no. 35" when talking about potentially selling him? Are they just trying to be edgy or am I missing something?
My only guess would be being angry and refusing to name him after he refused to play in the City cup game? So - being edgy ?
Was one week before Poland’s World Cup playoff. Obviously no one actually knows for sure whether he refused to play or not. Ralph said his head wasn’t in the right place or something. Typical overreaction from fans.
I would be worried if I was a Leicester City fan. Too many quality players seem to be leaving this club. I would love to see Rodgers come upstuck after his comment about Saints during his Liverpool days. It does make you wonder what is happening at Leicetser. Just wondering if they will faulter this season and how willing Rodgers will be willing to remain there once the next big managerial vacancy becomes available in the Premiership. It is always amusing speculating on the "sack race" and which will be the first club to lose their nerve. My money would be on someone like Eddie Howe if Newcastle fail to live up to expectations and you could envisage someone like Rodgers making that journey. Similarly, I wonder if he would also be a manager Saints would look to if we binned Ralph? I have a funny feeling that Rodgers won't be at Leicester by May and will also jump ship. From the outside perspective, wheels look like they are coming off at the King Power. ......
I expect Leicester are kind of in a position similar to where we where 8 years ago. At the absolute max of our wage bracket and annual salary increases have swallowed up all of the increase you are allowed. Therefore the renewal of any contracts or signing of any new players requires moving people on to free up budget space But they seem to be holding out on transfer fees. Apparently rejecting 8m for Vestergaard and 6m for Praet. You’d think they would take what they can get for Vestergaard but the way football accounts work is that selling for half price a year into any deal longer than two years will be an accounting loss and so will not help their FFP They are shifting on their goalie who was in their top 5. earners. The talk appears to be that they are happy and think he has been disappointing in recent seasons. They are also assuming they will move on tielemans but no concrete offers have come in Intriguingly some fans seem to assume they will be able to reject Newcastle for Maddison and then extend his contract. That seems far fetched to me especially as he is one of their top earners The big thing seems to be that they bulked out their squad for Europe and are now not in it. It always looked odd that they paid out 150k PW in wages to a 5th/6th choice centre back and 3rd choice left back
I would be a little concerned if I was a Leicester fan. If they sell Maddison they're relying on his replacement coming in and hitting the ground running as pre-season is in the rear view window now. Vardy isn't getting any younger and they're about to lose their keeper. Quite pleased we're playing them nice and early in the season.
It isn't really that deluded though. They finished 8th last season. Sure, Maddison would be a big loss, but they might just hold on to him. Also 50m is a nice chunk of money.
