Aprx 47m folk in UK are of voting age, something in region of 250,000 Tory party members in UK. So why is the BBC stuffing the Tory leadership debates down our throats when the majority of us have no say in the voting.
It’s just been on the news that there is 160,000 Tory members so that makes it worse although I don’t know what the other parties have.

I asked this question of myself when deciding what might be worth watching.

I have no objection to The BBC supporting minority interests, but this one might have been best left Sky where they could have made it a Pay to View event.
Those Party Members who wish to exercise their vote would, no doubt, have been happy to pay.
The rest of us could have watched a documentry about paint drying, which I'm guessing would have been more interesting.

Spot on mate...it should only be left to the members. Mind, last night really showed just how biased the BBC are..

Wouldn't trust the BBC to tell me anything anymore. They seem to have an agenda on every subject these days.

I certainly don't trust politicians, but as a tax payer l would like to see a strong government and a strong opposition. Unfortunately we have neither, so doubt l will vote next time.

One of them will be an option at the next general. At least this gives us some insight into how self centred , back stabbing and lying they are. Although we don’t need this amount of coverage - we know already

There is no reason whatsoever for it to have been on, none at all.

There is nothing that could not have been communicated to the members in other ways. In any event, the Tories were mad to consider these things, as they have zero friends in the broadcast media.I watched the Channel4 one and it's slant was comical. Enough for me. I know what they are about anyway, and I don't have a vote.

There is an interesting side note to this though, in that it cements an advantage which any government holds; that the names and faces of ministers are better known than the opposition, which might have veen the reason they agreed to them.

But, you are correct, there was still no place for them at all .

The bbc pm elect show was embarrassing, the newsreader asking the questions was out of her depth and didn't control the debate. The two clowns pretending to be experts offered nothing and when they asked questions they didn't push for a reply. A complete waste of time

Sky are no better, had a flick through sky news app this morning and it mirrors the bbc. They even had a story on there saying trans men should be supported to “chest” feed if they want to. I mean how’s that even possible. How’s its even front page news so to speak

At one point she asked a question that could have potentially started world war 3 - Would you be willing to deploy the navy in the black sea to protect the grain shipments. Meaning would you deploy the navy to the black sea to fight the Russians directly. They both said no thankfully, Truss should be very wary as she has previously inflamed the Russians with some of her comments and she is still the foreign secretary.

Thought the whole thing was poorly controlled to be honest. Presenter seemed incapable of shutting Sunak down with his constant interruptions.

The British navy is already in the Black sea , in force. One day last week they had 24 RAF aircraft doing fly by's of the remaining Russian fleet just off the Crimea (you may have seen the photos ) & escorting Russian Aircraft back to landward. There's more than enough British fire power deployed in the Black Sea, not counting the Americans, to start and end a war. I think Liz would know that though.
