Still think we need to go 4231 Ingram Coyle Greaves Fig Elder Seri Slater Allayhar Tufan ?? Tetteh/Oscar
Figureido was signed on the basis that we’d play 3 centre halves as that’s where he actually had success at this level
Perhaps. One of the questions asked of Shota was that if we were playing 532 don't we need wingbacks who can actually provide crosses for the strikers. He suggested the listener should be a scout and and said we will wait and see.
Bit of a glib answer, it's a fair question. We can wait and see but until then we do have a league game this weekend..
I think the suggestion is that we're still not done in the market. Could still be 4 more I believe. Managers usually keep cards close to chests once league games come around.
I don’t understand why McLoughlin is not being considered as one of the 3 centre halves. I thought he was excellent last season once he’d forced his way into the team.
Suspect Jones and Greaves either side of Figs as it adds more balance when playing out. No concerns if he does play though.
I'm sure he will be a regular starter. He had some good games, but for me he has a mistake in him - especially when we are pratting around with the ball in our own 18 yard area for 6 passes.
I understood that was the suggestion, however we have a game Saturday. It's fine to plan to bring in more players but we've had a month to sign a wing back if this is how we want to play.
I haven't a clue what to expect on Saturday. Can understand Shota isn't gonna say too much and give Nige the game plan though - and squads are very rarely finalised ahead of the opening game.
Yeah this has been my underlying issue with the recruitment. Centre halves were great last season, needed more goals from them yes but that was as much down to the delivery. Top half defence. 2nd worst attack, if we aren’t going to bother bringing in wing backs who’ll contribute to the attack why persist with that shape when we can just play one where they don’t have as much creative burden put on them and instead play one with more attackers, 4-2-3-1/4-3-3
