It's implicit throughout the interview. Where has he said he was lowballed? He was offered a rise, mentioned seeing 'Turkish players' coming in on more although we've only signed 1 so far. He's chosen to go where he feels he'll be more influential. We could have sat on his extension for a year and released him next year, but we didn't. Get over it.
It’s the height thing as well. Doesn’t matter if Slater likes to get stuck in, Seri and Slater just aren’t big and strong enough in a midfield two. They’d get bullied.
Think having 3 centre halves behind them makes up for it slightly mind but wouldn’t say no to a big DM coming in
Yeah, we definitely need a big defensive mid. Idk who we are in for or if we are in for one. Youssouf would fit the bill.
Greaves, Figs, Jones, McLoughlin, Smith is probably enough if we're primarily playing a 4. If we're mostly going with a 3 then there's definitely room for another.
Bringing in all these players is great, as long as they gel together, especially after trying to bring in free transfers over the last 2-3 seasons, gradually getting less quality & spending less, (this is now helping us though). The thing that worries me is, will the likes of Jones in midfield get a chance, Chadwick on the wing, Smith in defence, Jarvis up front? Or will they just get let go, because they can’t get a game, someone else picks them up & they get their big break that way. Or will they just be ****? Cairney & Cooper, both got sold when we spent money, not many kids came through, from my memory, only Bowen springs to mind.
They're saying the right things about leaving a pathway from the academy. As always, time. Will tell, but not all will be good enough. Some will go out on loan and fi d their level elsewhere.
I really hope the pathway doesn't close, hopefully the improved recruitment pushes them further because evidently it becomes harder for them to breakthrough. As much upto them as it is the board for them to get a chance here. We are certainly looking good though for continuation of recent success of the academy. Will be make or break for some of them as if we had gone down last season. a lot of them would've been in for a breakout season in League 1.
It does get harder to break through the higher we go, but it also is harder to keep them unless we improve and ideally go up, paradoxically.
Serbian striker Aleksander Pesic is supposedly moving to Red Star for €800,000. Acun tried to sign him in January but he would he didn't want to leave Istanbul. I think City were going to pay in excess of €2,000,000 for his services.
I 100% do not believe there is ever in any contract a guarantee about been played in the team Just no The smarmy apologists likeorange and 1more etc can smarm and be smug all they ****ing like and oh can they be smug with their false and made up ITK bullshit It was a terrible decision to let honeyman go by only offering him a poor deal.
They are more common in loan deals TBF. But it won't be worded as a guarantee and more along the lines of status within the squad etc. Just the same as when managers say to players "you are no longer in my plans" or a player is told to find another club. They can be told they are a key player etc.. I'm not going to pretend to know the exact terms, but from what I've been told, the contract we offered him was a very decent one but he chose not to accept due to not being on par with incomings. ( For what it's worth I don't think he should be paid the same as seri for example )
