Better at different things, Fleming is better going forward, on the ball and defending 1 on 1. Elder is good in the air, better physically and abit more composed. Good 2 options for the season for different teams we face
Both are linked. He wanted to be first choice. He was offered less than the incomings which indicated he wasn't going to be seen as such. He's done the best thing for him, the club have done the best thing for the club by investing more in others for his position. It's amicable so no issue, but suggesting that money doesn't indicate your position in a squad hierarchy is laughable.
Did he want to be first choice or just compensated reasonably? Doesn't sound like his comments were that he should be first choice, just that he wasn't respected. Which is what I said all along.
He was being offered double his previous wage, so that seems to be more about hierarchy to me. At no point does Honeyman say he was disrespected, he just wanted to be on the same wage as the new boys which the club didn't value him at.
Makes Fleming a better wing back though. With Shota and Acun emphasising the want for attacking football, i'd like to see attacking players. Elder and Coyle at wing back it becomes really quite negative.
Guess I'd be interested to know what his current wage was if that's true. If he was going from 6 to 12k not sure that really compares to Seri on 30k or whatever he's on. But all besides the point, that it wasn't about not being first choice, but about us 'lowballing' him.
Just because we didn't pay him what he wanted, doesn't mean he wasn't going to be compensated reasonably. The club are well within their right to offer what they feel he's worth to the squad and he's well within his right to either agree and sign it disagree and move on. Let's not pretend we where trying to low ball him and pay him less then his worth, he was offered an extremely good offer but no guarantees attached to it, he's moved to a club which by all accounts are paying him the same as we offered but slightly different bonuses and a little bit more of a guarantee around his role in the squad.
Someone on twitter earlier was claiming he was offered 8k but was annoyed new signings on 20+. Also claims he's on 15k at Millwall
He knows and you know if players are coming on on 30 groats and you have been offered 12 groats then you're likely to be behind them in the pecking order. Honeyman is not Seri. No way I'd be paying them the same.
My only arguement for that is without a proper ball winner (Smallwood) in the middle of the park you’d need abit more defensive stability in certain games where we may be under the cosh.
True, i'll be interested to see if Tufan and Seri lineup together in 343 today because I just can't see it working. I suspect Seri and Slater are currently most likely to start against Bristol
Second that, Slater and Ozan protected the defence well, largely down to Slater and Seri doesn’t offer that so it doesn’t work for me If pre season is anything to go by, Shota seemingly agrees
