we’ve also got to remember one of our U23 managers moved to the mags recently. Puts him well placed to know what talent we’ve got in our academy.
Newcastle supporting players always end up biting us on the arse in the end. That stunt Chopra pulled at Sid James where he attempted to pass rather than score is on par with Match fixing for me. Colback was professional but we basically trained him up then off he went. I'm never comfortable when they play for us. I'd rater see if we have any of our local lads at the academy that's just as good.
Think he’s asking if those that knew about a left sided defender coming in know who the striker/attacking player is
The options available now suggest we can change formation easily during games and Neil has already demonstrated this to great effect, the 5 sub rule is another bonus with a manager, with the ability to think on his feet .
Its an interesting one with Rigg and other kids we have or have already let go. Many of them get swallowed up into other youth systems and then end up being 20 odd having hardly played. In a few cases we're getting these lads from those academies (I get many of them hadn't moved earlier on, like a Cirkin) like Jack Clarke where the big move didn't work out for him and hes looking to rebuild his career. Or like Huggins, Alese or Cirkin where they're moving for regular mens first team football rather than endless U23 games. The lads we sold off previously theres not one of them playing regularly where they went, where had they have stayed here they may well have a season or twos worth or senior games under their belts by now and 50 odd first team appearances. We've shown the pathway for young players is there which definitely goes in our favour, I think that'll make a few think twice about moving on.
Those who knew we were signing a left sided CB from the Prem… Do they know who, or which position, or from which club/league is likely to be next through the door?
Think thats bull myself (story i mean not you), honestly think Chopra tried to play a good pass for an easy tap in....but hes ****e & played a crap pass....to appease their think fans came the story plus he doesnt need to admit how ****e he was
It's a difficult thing to balance a squad. Someone of the quality of Abraham (I don't think there's anyone with that proven quality by the way), would have to start every week which means we'd be either changing our approach this late into planning or replacing Stewart. The thing about Stewart, Broadhead and Parrott is that we don't know what their level is yet. All of them have the potential to be standout players in the league. That being said, if someone of proven quality is available, then we'd be mad not to improve. I guess what I'm saying is; I'd be thrilled if someone of that proven Championship quality was available and we attracted them, but I'd be more than happy if Stewart, Broadhead and Parrott ended up being our 3 striker options next season.
The idea that he deliberately messed it up was always nonsense. He might have bottled having a shot. A good pass would have led to a tap in and was probably the best option. But the idea that he deliberately missed doesn't really explain why he chased it down in the first place. It also doesn't explain when he was unlucky hitting the bar with a header against them - why didn't he just head it over instead of trying to score?
Depends. I watched him play and he was a very good 1v1 finisher. One of the best I’d seen. And he never passed in that situation. The miss was disgraceful. Not sure he meant it but I do think there was a big part of him was glad it didn’t result in a goal.
I think in a few years when Newcastle build an academy, we have no chance. At the minute Thier facilities are ****e, hopefully works in our favour
Not sure about that like, still hard to sign a youngster if their supported club is also in for them. We seem to have a decent talent pool of young sunderland fans. Plus that will increase if the club starts performing well on the pitch. One of the young lads on our books was wanted by Sunderland, Boro and Newcastle when younger…was only ever going to sign for us.
I still don't buy this. Didn't shoot but the square should have guaranteed a goal, it was just a really badly weighted pass, it happens.
I'd watched Chopra since he played for seaham red star jnrs. If he wanted score he would have. If he wanted Jones to score he would have. If we had been playing any other team he would have contributed a goal or assist. I'd bet my house on it and it would be a safer bet than any Chops would go on to make.
