Anybody going to be watching? I had a chance to watch some of the build up today, the course is looking amazing as per and the wind is typically all over the place! Absolutely no idea who will win, but I'd love to see tiger do it at his favourite course

On a slightly different story, today, having not played Springhead for 45 years, and I hadn't played for 10 years, my son and grandson played a round today. It was a nostalgic pilgrimage, having a lot of fond memories of the place, and probably the last time I will ever play there. Really enjoyed it

It was in better shape than I expected, it gets a lot of traffic on it, but overall it was okay.

Sutton's a little tired these days in places, bunkers are almost always like hitting of concrete. It's a great place to learn the game though with some nice wide fairways.

I was at Muirfield the year it pissed down on the Saturday, the wind coming off the Forth of thingy would have had that Bear bloke running for cover. It was brutal.

I've played Murfield, a lovely course and a tough track to play.

Best course visited to watch Open : Birkdale, Southport.
    Worst: Sandwich, Kent

Been to most of them for the Open. Belfry not an open course, but well underwhelmed.

Think he won his first major there in the 90s, he didn’t complete in the US open so he could be fit to play the open. It means a lot to him… I too would love him to win it !!!!

I've played the Belfry a few times, and agree not the best course to play. Though that was 30 years ago, so it might have matured.

Last time I played springhead as I set my ball on the 18th tee I only needed to get an 8 to break a hundred. My brother in law told me this as I practiced my drive ( ****ing ****er ) put 3 balls over the fence and one in the pond, came off with 103. I could of just used my 7 iron and got under a hundred…. I’ve never forgave him for that and it was over 10 years ago… oh and I’ve still not broke a hundred, 101 is my best… love and hate golf with equal measure and I’ve played some wonderful courses all over the world…

Once played on springhead with richy coyle ( tommys uncle ) he is a mad ****er, on one tee he pulled down his shorts and hit a 200 yard drive. He’d been playing **** most of the round, funny thing was he played a lot better after that but kept his shorts on.. true story!!!!

I used to hate Springhead but loved Beverley Westwood -- especially before they put in the bunkers., and those holes where you hit it over the road.
