As a kid I played Springhead.. is it still a pay and play municipal gc like Sutton? Spent many a long day there during school holidays.

I’ll be honest I prefer Sutton, mind you that little par 3 on the outward 9 is a nightmare you get it either side, the green is ****ing horrible. Love the first tee, a fairway as wide as the humber lol

Is that the par 3 ( hope 4 I think ) where the green is elevated with trees one side?

Gotta say if the wind blows I wouldn't move far from Lowery, but think today is the windiest, so gonna be someone like Cam Smith, Zalletoris, or Scheffler

Looks like it, a bit of rain maybe but all good.

I always recall speaking to some lads who'd played a few Borders courses in Scotland, they described conditions as 30-40mph wind on one day and obviously suffered. They had dinner at the course and the waiter serving them asked how it had gone, the lads remarked that it was a bit too windy for them, the waiter turned with a quizzical look then looked out of the window and in his succinct Scots accent replied 'Ah but this is a mere breeze, ya know it's windy when the seagulls walk ! '

Yes, it’s not that far about 135/140 yards but if you miss it left or right it’s horrendous, I’ve took 12 on there before today. Best shot is shank it and land in front but don’t go over the top as you are in a world of **** if you do lol

I know what you mean, I've lost a few shots on that hole before. My least favourite is the really long thin par 5 ( hole 7 ) I think.... I just can't ever score well on it. It's always 8/9 for me

Oh I love all the par 5s at Sutton, the long one on your way back is as straight as a di. Mind don’t hook it left as that’s your ball gone lol

Anybody going to be watching? I had a chance to watch some of the build up today, the course is looking amazing as per and the wind is typically all over the place! Absolutely no idea who will win, but I'd love to see tiger do it at his favourite course

'll be watching as much as I can. I would prefer a UK based winner.

I was at school with someone who is now a golf pro. He grew up playing Sutton. I wish I had taken him up on the invitation to play. Didn't start until I was well into my twenties having moved away. I walked into a golf pro shop here in Leicester looking for my first set of clubs and heard a voice boom from the other end of the shop NOW THEN!! I recognised him straight away from the voice. Small world. Great game. Lovely lovely bloke. Won a few things in his day at Sutton if I recall correctly.

I only started playing last year, completely fallen in love with the game
