I guess the fact they haven't signed anyone it could just be window dressing/ marketing/fan appeasement being seen to be active.

Either way its robbing Peter to pay Paul.

No new owner is going to want to be stitched up by FFP in the first couple of years of their new ownership.

Chelsea's new owner recently commented on the fact they couldn't spend as much as they used to due to FFP. It's the reality of buying a PL club at the moment. Everton's last year of activity means that they'll be ok reasonably soon (maybe as soon as July, I'm actually not sure quite how they're structured and set up for FFP), but I just think you're adding two and two and getting five when it comes to Everton. They're spending unsustainably, but so is about 90% of the football league. They have an owner who can bankroll it, but is also happy to sell if someone is willing to meet his valuation. Think that's the start and end of it.

    Maybe. Maybe not.
Time will tell but a lot doesn't add up.

The Muriqi stuff just won't go away, maybe he's the mystery striker

Listening to Tan's interview it certainly sounded plausible.

We need 2 strikers. It's been confirmed we're in for Wright and there's another 'big name' we may have to be patient on.

The suggestion of muriqui is giving me a semi, truth be told.

I think there's something in it, whether we can pull it off or not is another question

    Woah Tiger...

I said it was a semi. Not quite into 'pulling off' mode yet.

Well the 2nd one was meant to be a young kid, but obviously the market is fluid and things change and sometimes players become available and possible. He'd be unbelievable at our level. He's a creator too which is extremely rare for a giant striker

It did, I'm not sure whether they're expecting to be beaten on Haji but Tan sounded very upbeat about it all.

5 subs next season completely. Would love a semi decent cup run next season with this depth we are seemingly building I can see it happening too.

They're certainly giving it a real go. As long as we get one decent striker, it'll be a good season. But it's always the most difficult position.

I would really like Haji though, I think we'd make really good money on him

The fact we are now thinking about whether Muriqi or Haji Wright will be our starting 9 is so exciting a year ago it was Eaves and Magennis…

Love the fact Tan mentioned that too. He knows how this game works.

And people are bemoaning the loss of Eaves, Honeyman and Smallwood, who's signed in L2 btw.

We're only looking at about £2m for Haji and that's why there's massive interest in him. It's a steal and he's a player you'd expect to sell for 8 figures.

I actually think we're a really good move for any of these players, England is where you want to play your football and you can earn a lot of money by scoring goals in the championship which is a pretty average standard

When Acun came in they stated that there was a 'premium' on English talent and they wanted to leave space to develop the home grown whilst seeking 'value in international markets'.

Whether the strategy works or not will be proven or not, but that's exactly what they seem to be doing.

The championship isn't 'average standard' that's just our perspective having been in the Prem, which is the pinnacle.

Championship is still one of the top 8-10 leagues in world football, its just overshadowed by a close bigger brother.

Theres few more competitive leagues in world football and just having membership of it probably puts you in the top 150 or so clubs in Europe. Even Rovverum.

Until they go down again, anyway.

Tan's interview was also pretty interesting on Honeyman, he danced around it a bit but basically sounds like we lowballed Honeyman. So rather than it being about playing time it was the finances, which makes perfect sense.

Anyone know what happened to the Georgian striker from Belgium/French team?

Lowballed? Or a London club offered him more?

They didn't value him as much as our incomings. If we offered him 2 year's +1 on Seri/Tufan money there's no doubt he'd have stayed. We didn't, because we saw better value elsewhere.

All of the above comes into play.
