RMT staff strike against a negative % pay rise, or a pay cut.
Any complaints? Yep, apparently plenty.
All the RMT is seeking is a pay rise which reflects the increased cost of living 7%, or in real terms a zero pay rise. Seems reasonable to me.
Many RMT staff worked through the pandemic to keep Britain running and the shelves stocked. The same shelves that kept us gong.
NHS 20% front line staff worked through the pandemic , the rest, worked part time from home, or, like the majority of Doctors and Consultants, didn't work at all, yet they were applauded on Thursdays. No Barristers worked through the pandemic but that's OK, they're not blue collar so don't count.
While Rail workers face pay cuts, are shareholders of Rail companies capping their dividends, nope. So they want more, expect more and who do they expect to pay them, the blue collar worker that kept the goods flowing for 2 years while the majority of Britain stayed at home and binge watched box sets, or became really good at Red Dead Redemption 2 (other games existing) Any complaints? nope
I doubt any train driver in the UK is paid anywhere near £70k, closer to half that I suspect. Here in Germany the vast majority of Germans think its good, a very German thing, that most employed people, regardless of occupation chosen or forced, are adequately compensated for the work they do
Train drivers here are paid between £50-65k depending on experience. Carriage cleaners here are paid £30-£40k equivalent, and no one cares how much they earn, All Germans care about is they paid enough so that bills can be paid without concern, luxuries can be bought to improve our standard of living, money can be saved and our futures are secure. Pension funds are holier than the Holy Grail here. No Hedge fund can go near them, to raid them for profit, they're Sacrosanct. As aside, guess how the Farage family made their fortune? Raiding your pension funds, won't find anything about that on Nigel's Wiki page.
I wish it was better back home, living away makes me see just how bad it is. I know you wont like this but I wish it was more like Germany because here we don't have Fekkin train drivers, we just have train drivers.
