He turned down us and Leverkusen apparently which is an interesting decision to say the least. I expect he was guaranteed more football there and not many players can jump straight from South America to the high intensity of the premier league. It is probably more of a cultural thing. The weather, lifestyle and language makes it more appealing and easier for South American footballers and even other South Americans to settle in Italy, Spain and Portugal than northern Europe especially as there will be others from their own country there too. Sassulo probably has other Uruguayan players who persuaded him to go there as well.
