He turned down us and Leverkusen apparently which is an interesting decision to say the least. I expect he was guaranteed more football there and not many players can jump straight from South America to the high intensity of the premier league. If you’ve ever tried watching domestic South American football the pace always seems no existent

Seems reassuring that we seem to be trying to look further afield and potentially trying to get the Darwin Nunez types before they make their first European move and before they hit the 30m bracket (that he was rumoured to be last summer when Brighton wanted him)
It is probably more of a cultural thing. The weather, lifestyle and language makes it more appealing and easier for South American footballers and even other South Americans to settle in Italy, Spain and Portugal than northern Europe especially as there will be others from their own country there too. Sassulo probably has other Uruguayan players who persuaded him to go there as well.
I've seen a few people question the point of our ownership group pursuing a multi-club model recently and this exchange highlights perfectly how they can work.

We can sign these players, that either may not want or may not be ready to move to the premier league, when they are 16-22 develop them in Europe at a more suitable club/league and then bring them to Saints when they are ready.

It is a long process but, if done well, the benefits are clear.

Would be one way of replenishing our striking ranks and aiding a “massive” overhaul. Frees and loans as well as paying fees

Presumably not enough international appearances ?

I wonder if he was first choice? Or that we were working on deals in parallel to see which would work out? Or whether this means there are attempts to move McCarthy on and we wanted two goalkeepers ? I doubt it is the latter

I assume the fee would have been lower so I wonder if that has a knock on elsewhere if he was first choice

I believe that Dragowski would have gotten one if he was first-choice throughout the season. Playing a high percentage of minutes in a Band 1 (ie., PL, Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A and Ligue 1) league provides a large amount of points toward a WP, even if you aren't a current international, and Fiorentina was good enough that it'd be worth a few extra points.

I assume this explains all the Man City youth player links?

And is it Crocker who has the links to the England youth players. I have forgotten his role at the club. Sounds promising though

Isn't Glover still in place for this window though?
