We have a professional army, navy, Air Force and border force so be between them they should already be trained to intercept a rubber dinghy and turn it around safely

This state of affairs just cannot be allowed to continue

This costs the UK Taxpayer some £5m per day just in hotel accommodation, plus food, clothes, new mobile phone and £28 or £35 (I forget which) per person per week spending money when we have British kids and families who were born here suffering the latest cost of living rises and genuine poverty everywhere.

But these people are NOT refugees they are economic migrants
If they originated in Iran, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and even if they’ve fled war, they will probably have passed through several safe and potentially much bigger countries than this overcrowded and broke little one
But as many people have asked, where are the women and children ? Left to fend for themselves ‘back home’ one assumes ?

They aim for the UK because we’re a soft touch but after months of campaigning by GB News the rest of the media has suddenly realised what the score is and overall it is costing £4 billion per year
A truly staggering amount of money caused by people that have no right to be here. Yet due to this crisis and others our taxes go up to fund it ! This is not what I and millions of others voted for. We need a strong government with the vision and courage to put this to bed by stamping it out once and for all. But instead we’ve got liar liar pants on fire dithering and not leading the country like a Prime Minister ought to.

As a now sovereign nation I would exit us from the European Court of Human Rights policy that we signed up to in the 1950s immediately, deal with these illegals as we see fit but humanely of course, and to hell with what the rest of the world thinks of us. This isn’t a game and people want results. Stop these people coming here in the first place and we’ll avoid all the despicable lawyers getting adjournments and preventing extradition

Who knows that might really might discourage another 100,000 coming in the remainder of this year

As I said, this can’t go on, it’s beyond ridiculous, and Boris and co will be paying a heavy price at local and National elections mark my words.

I’d go as far to say that the majority of UK taxpayers are heartily sick and disgusted at being taken for mugs by this situation and this impotent government.
You are seriously suggesting our armed forces deal with civilians, they are trained for warfare, imagine the uproar if one boat sinks and the occupants drown. Sorry I don’t agree.

You are entitled to your opinion I just think you’re wrong.

Why is there a housing shortage ?
Why can’t people see a GP or a dentist ?
Why are the roads so congested ?
Why is there a 6.2m backlog on NHS Lists ?
Why are local authorities struggling ?

the fact that our population has grown by 10 million people since 2000, 84% of which is due to immigration might give you a clue

I’m not even anti immigration, it can be good for a country

But I am very VERY anti illegal immigration and these people are breaking the law and should be dealt with accordingly not pandered to or prioritised above our own people
Why is there a shortage of workers?

We know our system for allowing refugees in is broke, how long has it taken for Ukrainians to be allowed in, there were thousands of people willing to take then in, only to find they had to use the internet to find them themselves. Pathetic!!

Ashton, you question suggestions stopping this awful and dangerous situation.
I heard Starmer voice the left view - platitudes of talking again with the French which simply doesn't work no matter how much we pay them.
Do you have a view ?

if they get successful flights off the ground then maybe a bit of a sweetner .. however local .gov and intermediate elections are nearly always opposite to party in power ... look at tail end of Labour oppo's with JC in charge they had gains a closing of % and got thrashed ..

Saddest thing, like Bristol we have a labour .gov in council power ... and just look at how much £ has been sent down the sewers into the avon and out sea never to be seen again ...... a less wasteful council would have saved us all about £60 on last council tax .. how do labour present it ... "only about a £1 a week" but want it paid in a lump sum or monthly = £6 a month .. only! before RIP OFF Marvin came to power my CT was about £180month now almost £230 ...

those not going are [ some of them ] because they are appealing ... lose the appeal and next flight ... everytime an appeal is lost or won it sets a precedent or is part of a precedent from previous ... I set a prececedent against the social security people in 1983 after having been made redundant in 1981 I did as much work as I could but was out of work for 3 month's in 1983 .... I appealled and won, was advised my case had set a precedent against non disclosure of advice by social regarding my entitlement ... I fought my own case! was awarded over £1000 in 1983 and recieved 1 payment at correct rate before signing off ... got a job! paying about £6 a week less than the social payment ...........

It’s not a question of left or right, I’ve already said I don’t have an answer, but I’ve not seen anyone else that has either, if what has been proposed stops people making the trip, I’m for it, what I can’t agree with is sending people half way around the world, to a country with a dubious human rights record. An approach which also is potentially illegal.

We should ensure our immigration and asylum process is fair and fit for purpose. This would ensure anyone making the trip illegally isn’t there purely because there isn’t a legal route. The illegal smugglers should be dealt with, heavily fined, and imprisoned, rather than purely punishing the immigrants themselves.

it’s a difficult issue I accept, but just pushing the problem to someone else seems lazy, just because we can’t think of a way to deal with it ourselves.

It’s a free country (for now) but there must be considerable amount of spare capacity amongst the armed forces given they’ve little else to do at the moment

Why is there a shortage of workers?
Probably due to a mixture of Covid and Brexit
But the NHS is largely screwed in many areas such as ambulance waiting times and the NHS being so worthy by making sure they are inclusive rather than treating people who need it and thx huge demands being placed upon it by a population that is growing out of all control
This is the same NHS who have recently removed the word ‘women’ from their Ovarian Cancel ‘help’ page ! I mean come on, wtf is this country coming to with biological men competing and winning at womens sports and the labour leader and deputy unable to answer the question ‘what is a woman’?
It’s all sick joke except it’s not even funny

Granted but at least they are genuine refugees, but mainly women and kids while their menfolk do the honourable thing and stay to fight the Russians
The mirror opposite of what the illegals appear to be doing

It illustrates the system isn’t fit for purpose, neither is the immigration system, and until they’re both fixed we’ve no way of knowing whether the so called illegal immigrants are actual illegal and which would have been allowed in if the systems worked properly.

I get that but everyone appears to be clutching at straws and the options are rapidly dwindling
Appreciate that, but it’s simplistic to say let the armed services do it, that’s never going to work.

I think we’re looking at it from the wrong angle, we need to find a way to stop the traffickers.

seems like the "lawyers" are finding more loop holes .. so plane may go to Rwanda with a few passengers and a load of freight!
