Say what you want about social media, but it does allow a lot more evidence to be obtained. If it was a thing back in 89 then I’m sure wouldn’t have taken 30 years for truth to come out that’s for sure.
You're absolutely correct. It takes it away from hearsay and/or one person's word against another. I hope those involved sought out counselling.
Remember this - the initial lie was that our fans broke down the gates at Hillborough. Although the police at the time knew that was a lie because they'd been radioed to open the gates and this info had already been passed to Peter Wright, the chief of SYP, they thought, by allowing the CCTV tapes to go 'missing' from a locked room that only SYP had access to, that they'd never be disproved. This lie lasted all weekend, but they didn't know that the BBC had been using their cameras to film the fan build-up to, and had recorded officers opening the gates.
Why this is important is because to counter the inevitable backlash to the lie being uncovered, SYP, in cahoots with the right-wing press and the cabinet itself in the form of Bernard Ingham, fired up the dead cat of ticketless Liverpool fans pissing on fans and attacking coppers. You can see where the French got their template from. I truly believe that yes, the overwhelming social media coverage has and will continue to demolish the mush about 30-40k ticketless fans at the ground, and that now they're acknowledging there is no evidence for that. But what still remains is this - opposition fans, as typified by the scum on the prem board, are the same now as they were in 89, and no amount of evidence will change that.

The Mail hates foreigners even more than it hates us plebs so it's entirely consistent with their usual standards.
On face value the number of fakes looks a whole lot better than 40,000 but I don't believe a word of it. Our very own Robbo confirmed on the day of the game while the chaos was still taking place that his friends and relatives were turned away because their tickets were 'fake' and they had come from the club. Also factor in that hundreds if not thousands got in without their tickets being scanned at all, confirmed by Real fans and our fans who found themselves in the Real end by mistake having not shown their tickets to anyone; some scanners not working; real tickets being scanned as fake and that number, much lower than the 40,000 claimed, still shouldn't be believed.
I don't doubt that there were lots of fake tickets, there always are especially at the biggest games no matter which teams are involved, but how can you expect anyone to believe anything coming from the authorities or the police regarding this game now? You simply can't.
Absolutely. Of the 1600 figure we are now left with with from the 40k original claim ( gleefully seized upon by Prem Board vermin), they only actually have a handful of actual forged tickets to show for them. And several sources such as Pierce and Maddox cite instances when genuine tickets have had to be scanned sometimes up to six or seven or more time before being accepted, especially as the scanners apparently were linked to an unreliable wifi signal. Apparently there is no way of knowing, but there is a way of knowing how many times the scanners were unusable, and, where are 1600 confiscated forgeries?
The forgeries bullshit is probably total rubbish and the whole thing is down to utter incompetence, rubbish tech and fascist police kicking off.

They should be banned from hosting football events for this.
Everyone affected should be paid full compensation for tickets, travel, accommodation, being assaulted etc.
If psg can pay 1mil a week to two players.out of French football they can cough up what probably only amounts to 1 weeks wages for messi and mbappe out of the French football money made out of thst cl debacle.
