The game should never have been played there. You could say that hindsight is a wonderful thing except in this instance there is evidence of a rugby game (I think) being played there with very similar consequences. The authorities really don't care about fans.

The French need to pony up 5k approx per fan as compensation. Hotels, flights etc etc.

It should be done on both groups of fans to put the fear of never seeing this repeated ever.

I think a £100m fine should be applied to the French, and £1bn to UEFA, and the money distributed between the grassroots football of Europe. And the UEFA should be forced to resign - they still insisted with keeping that message on their website (is it even still there?) about late fans, despite even the French admitting it was wrong.

That was the thing which gets me - although the majority of people trying to access the stadium from that area were Reds there were also RM fans and journalists officials sponsors etc who had used the same route to access the "neutral" seating and yet some people still cannot get past the idea that it must be our fault and just ignore the independent evidence .

They can. They know. They just can't let go of that little voice in their head that was dancing on the ceiling at 20.30 on 28th May that Liverpool had caused another Hillsborough/Heysel. You would know, being a regular on there, the utter ****fest the Prem Board, for instance, had become by that time, with even the members of staff on the site jizzing themselves into a frenzy of premature ejaculation.

There's no coming back from that for most of them. Like ****ing rapists convincing themselves afterward that she was really up for it, despite all the evidence and witnesses testifying she said no.

    I mean we're lucky that

    A. No one died, largely due to the actions of our fellow fans and
    B. We live in an age where social media, for all it's faults, can be used to debunk obvious lies from supposedly respected and senior figures, otherwise we'd have been blamed for this up until the outcome of the investigation by everyone, beyond those set in their old prejudices.

on the night before the issue became apparent the TV showed a view of the stadium from above and there was literally nobody outside the ground queuing to get in.

They then started blaming fans for wrong tickets and all sorts so it was patently false claims given the tv, fans in stadium and the fact that social media was already ahead of them reporting live on what was going on.

The liars and thugs in the french authorities of all types are a disgrace and they should get no other major sporting event in europe.

Sadly, we will still be blamed for it by plenty of people, regardless of the clear findings of the investigation. There are plenty who still maintain we were responsible for Hillsborough, and will do so no matter how many investigations prove otherwise.
Like flat-Earthers or holocaust deniers, there are some people for whom no amount of evidence is enough to disabuse them of the opinion they want to have.

Plenty of people do listen to them, though still a minority I grant you.
However, I think they're more dangerous than they seem. It's not so much the things they believe in, but the fact that they dismiss evidence in favour of their opinion, and that resonates with lots of people who are distrustful of authority.
It's good to question things, but automatically taking a contrary view without any evidence for it is another matter.
Disinformation permeates all types of social media, and the people who are holocaust deniers are likely to also have a conspiracy theory mindset in regards to other things like covid and 5G for instance.

What social media has done, is make it seem like there are more knobheads than there actually are.

Reasonable people without an axe to grind don't post, comment, tweet is it? ****ing idiots trying to convince the world that there insane views are reality post all the time.
