Ings and Watkins are both decent forwards, but they don't complement each other.
I'm not sure that either suits Villa's system as a loan striker, either.

Buendia's looked decent to me in several games.
He's been moved around a lot and Gerrard has changed his whole shape quite a bit, too.
He doesn't seem to know what his best team is, what formation to use or which style of play to adopt.
There's plenty of room for versatility and adaptability, but I think you have to judge that on results.
Change things around and win? Brilliant. Do it and lose? You don't know what you're doing.

So with a choice of 5 out of 6 your players were not good enough to gain selection?

Considering that in both cases the clubs loaned in our player then loaned in a sixth afterwards, our player was clearly good enough, most obviously in John's case given they made a big deal of Chris Powell unveiling him when his loan went through - and then Chelsea bought one of their first teamers and loaned him back for the rest of the season, which ****ed the whole arrangement up right out of the gate

In other words, your argument wasn't good enough to withstand the mildest amount of scrutiny

Villa have a number of players who are highly rated individually but they don’t knit together as a team. Recruitment of the likes of McGinn, Watkins and Cash, for example, look great value for money and shrewd at face a value, but nobody has considered how they fit into the team.
Contrast to Liverpool who done very well at making equally savvy signings, but of players who fit the profile of the team and have improved individually (and have improved the team collectively) e.g Robertson, Mane.
Nobody thought Robertson was one of the best left backs around before they signed him.

Johnnie Jackson didn't think that Nile John was good enough.
    Johnnie Jackson got the sack.

Everton's chief scout did. Recommended the joint signing of him and Maguire for £20m.
The club told him no. <laugh>

Interesting pragma vs dogma dilemma today for Los ingraticos.

Do you have Bale on the team sheet , should a potential
repeat of 2018 be necessary, or do you trust that the
collective team sheet that got to the final will get the job done ??

I'd be open to extending this to all Liverpool kits in London.

He’ll probably be there, you’re allowed 12 subs on the bench for the final so even if Ancelotti has no plans to use him it’s difficult to imagine him not being there.

Repeats CL final 2018. Wales qualify for the WC. Sign for Spurs.
