He hasn't looked 100% fit since the Arsenal game at Xmas. We 100% rushed him back for the play offs. He was blowing out his arse after one sprint v Sheff Wed. Think you are right re mind games/reputation

The only thing that would make me nervous re signing Broadhead is his hamstrings. 3 or 4 hamstring injuries in a single season
And then the worry is his pace will be gone. I remember Michael Owen having similar problems. I think Neil might look elsewhere tbh, just got a feeling he won't sign him.

I think last season would have been the right time. He looked every one of this 36 years this season

I agree, earlier on in the season when he played it did look like it was a season too far for him with us. He looked like he'd lost a bit of edge and wasn't affecting games as he would have before. In a funny way, maybe his injury was a blessing in disguise for all of us. The team had to adapt to him not being there, we still have good memories of him from last year and not of him in decline and he gets to go out on a relative high, not being shuffled off to the sidelines before being released.

All I'll say is I hope what ever comes next for him is a success, because I think he still has something to offer football, whether as a coach or playing at a reduced level. All the best Aiden.

Don't think he would be worth the chance because of his injury record. Looks a good striker but we couldn't rely on him for a full season.

For what it’s worth there’s nothing to suggest we won’t go back in for Hoffman the way we are probably trying with Broadhead and Clarke. The agreed deal wasn’t triggered but Bayern may still be up for selling and we may still be up for buying.

David Preece worked with the lad for a year so I trust him to make a good assessment on whether he’s worth getting back.

i think the hoff looked ok until those few games, never seemed as confident afterwards but pretty sure preece will have a word if he feels he is good enough...keepers need to be able to take the odd 'mauling' and come out the next game as if it never happened, guess it is one of those 'comes with experience' parts of football.

I think Hoffman will turn out to be an excellent keeper, but had the problem with catching Covid and his confidence taking a hit during our bad run in January and February, especially the 6-0 at Bolton. As a young lad that will have had an effect on him. However he showed enough earlier how good he could be. Personally I wouldn't be against bringing him back, as both him and Patterson are similar ages they can push each other. I guess it all depends on what he wants if he wants to come back.

Had Hoffman been number one when AN shored our defence frailties up he’d have been as good as Patterson in my opinion, he was class till the team started falling apart.

yeh I think both him and Dajaku have been darkened in many peoples memories because they were involved when we were crap and it when we were good. But neither of them were the reason we were crap.

As with many of our players, it could be argued Dajaku is more suited to the championship. Especially considering we will be doing a lot more counter attacking next season rather than trying to break down stubborn defences.

Yeah, I’m happy Dajaku has signed as well he’s got good potential.

Just going back to the original retained list, there is a hell of a lot of signings needed for the 23s as well. Should be a very busy summer ahead.
